From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Born on October 14, 1954, at Charsadda, Gulzar Alam, is a famous and renowned Pashto singer and has a vast fan base from Afghanistan to Pakistan and among Pashtoons around the world.

He left singing when the fundamentalists (Muttaheda Mujlis-e-Amal) came into government in Pakhtunkhwa province, they banned cultural activities and started beating singers and artists. But in Feb. 2008 the secular nationalist Awami National Party replaced them and they not only opened Nashtar Hall for cultural activiteis but invited Gulzar Alam back to singing.

Gulzar Alam accepted the invitation wholeheartedly and started his singing career again.
