Gulripsh district is a district of the internationally unrecognised Republic of Abkhazia, de jure part of Georgia. As such, it corresponds to the eponymous district of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Georgia. Its capital is Gulripsh, the town by the same name. The part of Gulripsh district known as Upper Abkhazia, home mostly to ethnic Georgians (Svans), is controlled by Georgia. Of the district's 19,918 inhabitants, 1,956 live in Upper Abkhazia.[2]
