Gull Bay First Nation

Gull Bay First Nation or Kiashke Zaaging Anishinaabek (Gayaashki-zaagiing Anishinaabeg) is an Ojibway First Nation located in Thunder Bay District in northwestern Ontario, Canada. It is approximately 175 km north of Thunder Bay, Ontario on Hwy 527 on the south shore of Lake Nipigon. As of January 2008, the First Nation had a registered population of 1055 people, of which their on-Reserve population was 300.

The First Nation elect their officials through the Act Electoral System, consisting of a Chief and ten councillors. The current Chief is Wilfred King, whose two-year term began on December 14, 2006. The councillors are Owen Barry, Eugene Esquaga, Brian King, Gwendoline King, Hugh King, Rita King, Wayne King, Isidore Poile, Orland Poile and Lawrence Shonias.

As a signatory to Robinson-Superior Treaty, Gull Bay First Nation is a member of the Nokiiwin Tribal Council, a Regional Chiefs Council, and Union of Ontario Indians, a Tribal Political Organization that represents many of the Anishinaabe First Nation governments in Ontario located about Lake Superior and Lake Huron.

The First Nation have reserved for themselves the 3940 ha Gull River Indian Reserve 55. The community of Gull Bay, Ontario is located on this Indian Reserve.
