Official Release Date

According to IGN's page the Official release date for Wii is October 29, 2007. See for yourself here http://wii.ign.com/index/release.html

According to EB Games in Hobart, Tasmania, they have a release date for October 24th.

According to EB Games in Columbia, South Carolina, they have a release date for October 28th, but the option to preorder the game is aviliable.

The source on this section states they are tentative, not official. Skeeker [Talk] 09:55, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

stairway?

is it true that stairway to heaven will be the last song in the game. somewhat like free bird in guitar hero2

Don't you think it would be in this article if it were confirmed to be in this game? Please stop posting message board questions on this page. Y2kcrazyjoker4 18:33, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

another song that i'd like to see on there is Layla, by Eric Clapton/Cream, or whoever they wanna give credit to, since it's been done so many times. who cares about the piano at the end?! just get the great guitar parts in!

She Builds Quick Machines

On and interview with Slash and Matt on the sauce, the rumor that She Builds Quick Machines and another song off the new Velvet Revolver album being in Guitar Hero III was CONFIRMED by Slash. This makes She Builds Quick Machines another confirmed song for the game. You can see the interview here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnh2JtkEKKY

Soundgarden?

I checked out the Gamepro website. I saw no mention of Soundgarden being announced in Guitar hero 3. Demoman87 18:34, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

The original poster mentioned a Gamepro article. If "My Wave" was announced in an issue of Gamepro that is not online, please cite the magazine issue, article name, and page in the citations section to keep it from being removed. Skrutop 19:06, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Singstar?

Does anyone know if GH3 will be integrated with Singstar? I've been told so but found no information about it..yes it will and drum hero will be playable only 4 the ps3 and xbox 360 only..+++

I can’t see that happening when you consider the fact that the SingStar games have all been first-party titles (as in, they were developed by Sony Computer Entertainment). The Guitar Hero games are all third-party titles: the original was done by Harmonix and RedOctane, while the second and third games are Activision-developed titles. —BrOnXbOmBr21 22:00, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
It is very possible that you are confusing Guitar Hero III with Rock Band (video game). 64.254.191.151 05:19, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Multiple entries by same band

According to the list, there's two songs in the top 20 from Metallica and Jimi Hendrix. Assuming the designers can use those songs, will they use both, or pick one and leave the other for another installment?--BigMac1212 01:04, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

  • If history serves, they will only do one song by a band as a matter of formality and to not show preferred treatment. However, given that there are rumored 'genre' sets, these may break the rules. Way too early to tell Masem 05:49, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

The should have some more metal bands with good guitar... Like maybe Children of Bodom or Slayer? Maybe even some Motorhead

Leave requests to the Guitar Hero forum. Otherwise you're just being annoying.Dibbity Dan 21:36, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
This isn't a Guitar Hero 3 wishlist board. Stick to the facts about the game. Skrutop 20:02, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

i think you should check out "rock band" [[1]] this may clear up what your thinking of 220.239.53.85 13:58, 2 June 2007 (UTC)chaoticjesus

GH3 vote site

I think we should keep that little paragraph about the unofficial site there, because it's a good reference site for fans, and helps get the word out for more people to submit their own list of songs. So I put it back with a minor edit.

However, I don't think we should put the 20 most requested songs on the page, so I did not re-add that. I think it's unneeded clutter, the songs change placing often from voting, and the list has already been subject to acts of vandalism.

Smoke Rulz 22:59, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

The vote results

Results of the vote has been published (pdf, 240kb): http://www.ahjteam.com/gh3vote/

Most propably the most interesting facts:

  • Little under 5000 people answered the poll
  • Over 95 000 songs were suggested
  • Most voted bands:--Ahjteam 06:49, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
5000 people? So how does it become notable enough to be mentioned? The Kinslayer 18:54, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

PS2 release

Does anyone also know if GH3 will FOR SURE be released on the PS2 platform?yes it will but it will not have drumhero or singstar.++

Of course not. It's far too early to know what they're going to do with the game. Also, I moved your question down here so it doesn't interfere with the other one. Use the "+" next time. -- Smoke Rulz 20:22, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
The ONLY thing known about this game is that Activision plans to release it, any other info is BS. TJ Spyke 05:50, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Answer: It WILL be released on PS2. Confirmed in a press release.--Scabloo 22:26, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Furthermore, the PS2 will get an exclusive guitar based on the Kramer line of guitars by Gibson. Skrutop 19:10, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

reverted

I just reverted it due to the incredibly bad attempted refs on here. If they are done correctly, it'll be alright. --teh tennisman 23:52, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Afd no more

As was stated in the AfD, the main issue was "this article lacks any first party sources", and the game was thus not concidered real. Now that the developer itself has the game on their website, it can not be denied to be a real game anymore, nor that the article lacks first party sources. It's a whole different situation. JackSparrow Ninja 17:15, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Rock Band

Harmonix is developing the game called Rock Band, and i've heard that it will support the Guitar controller from the previous GH games, i'm just thinking of that it might be the same game. If anyone know if it's true, we might gonna delete this page and make it redirect to Rock Band (game) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Denniskly (talkcontribs) 19:21, 4 April 2007

There is a petition online to keep iton ps2 at least http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?gtrhro3&1 i think this is relevant —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.237.203.88 (talk) 23:23, 4 April 2007

Guitar Hero III and Rock Band are separate games. Pele Merengue 22:34, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Harmonix was bought by MTV and is creating Rock Band. The Guitar Hero guitars will work on that game. RedOctane was bought by Activision and is creating Guitar Hero III. Skrutop 19:12, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Are Guitar Hero 3 and Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80's the same game??--Shino kun101 22:28, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

No, they're not. Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s is the last Guitar Hero game that will be developed by Harmonix. It will be released next month. Guitar Hero III is being developed by Neversoft and will be released sometime this fall. It will (probably) have songs from several decades. You could've just gone to the Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s article to figure this out. -Chickencha 23:04, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
Some of you should try reading some of the Wikipedia articles on these other games before suggesting they are the same or should be deleted.... Y2kcrazyjoker4 18:46, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Revelance/Speculation on "Guitar Villian"/"Drum Hero"

I can't deny that there may be trademarks for these games by Activision. However, I will say that a trademark does not necessarily mean a game will follow: they may have been taking predatory steps to prevent dilution of their name. But even more importantly, even if those games exist, they have absolutely zero relevance to Guitar Hero III. If you feel they have to be added, it would be better on the series page. --Masem 04:54, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I agree with your points. However, the fact remains: these could be clues to the next part of the series. Quatreryukami 06:29, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
That's purely speculation, though. Sure, they have the possibility of making these games, but it's only a possibility, not a probability. I believe the trademarks should be (and are, to my knowledge) mentioned in the Guitar Hero (series) article, but only that the names have been trademarked. And if there's no direct correlation between the trademarks and Guitar Hero III, we can't go suggesting that there might be. So it doesn't deserve a mention in this article. Pele Merengue 07:37, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

RedOctane support states Fall 07 ...

... and other stuff at this link The information has already been merged into the article infobox. I've put some text into the article itself, but I've put it as an unofficial source for now - granted, it is from RedOctane's support site, but for all we know this could be outdated or incorrect information.

I'm not sure on the unofficial / official thing (already reverted it twice) - I tend to think that officially announcing something would, at the very least, constitute a PR release from the publisher or developer. Daggoth S 06:49, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Source is gone. This appears to have been an accidental leak. What is WP's policy when it comes to this? Daggoth S 06:28, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Rating

Why is the rating N/A? If the game currently exists (which is just spec right now) then wouldn't it be awaiting rating? N/A would be for something like Windows Solitare right? I'm going to go ahead and revo it. Quatreryukami 01:52, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Really should be "NR" (not rated) officially, as the game's not complete enough to be submitted for a rating, but usually games in this state are temporarily rated "RP" (rating pending). More likely than not, this game will end up being rated "T" for lyrics (any lyrics too excplicit for a "T" ratimng will likely be edited in the covers of them.)

DS version

How am I supposed to play GH3 on the DS?!? Can anyone tell me how's it gonna work?

Comment: Then shouldn't it be removed? It is not sourced. --Scabloo 22:25, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

No - Gamespot mentioned it referencing RedOctane. There will also be a Nintendo DS version of the series, which will arrive "early next year." Although you can say "RedOctane didn't say it", I think it's solid. The DS version could be an entirely different conversion of the game. Daggoth | Talk 01:58, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

seriously, i don't think it would happen. if it's going to the ds, then it would definitely be on psp, don't you think? plus, the idea seems just a little silly. kind of like a hand-held dance dance revolution.

3 more songs not mentioned yet?

www.gamespot.com has some movies of Guitar Hero 3 up and the songs used were "Holy Diver" by Dio, "Round and Round" by Ratt and "I Wanna Rock" by Twisted Sister. These 3 songs may not be official yet but they have been tested in the game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pkacera35 (talkcontribs)

Considering "I Wanna Rock" is confirmed for GH Encore: Rocks the 80s, I seriously doubt it's going to be in GH3. Rdfox 76 23:39, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Holy Diver and Round and Round are in the same boat. Wrong game. Daggoth | Talk 01:28, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

On link IGN the following songs were announced. Can someon how can eit the GHIII page add them.

Evenflow: Pearl Jam Lay Down: Priestess

—Preceding unsigned comment added by Edupazos (talk • contribs)

They are already merged in the track list. Daggoth | Talk 14:53, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Alphabetize track list

The track list should probably be alphabetized. The order is seemingly random at the moment, and we have no idea about relative difficulty (and hence set number) of songs.

The order is presently as per the timing of when the track was known, and the order presented in that track listing. As when the game is fully released, we'll reorder appropriately, and that the full track list isn't known until the game is actually released, there's no need to rush to reorder the tracks. --Masem 12:49, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
The track list has been alphabetized by song name, just like Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s. The track lists for GH2 was alphabetized before the announcement of any set list order. Ultrabasurero 13:13, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Guitar Hero 3.png

Image:Guitar Hero 3.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:34, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

The Sleeping

The sleeping posted a myspace bulletin stating that they are in the game, but they won't hint at what song. This release date is most likely false, it's Gamestop, after all, they're never right.Doshindude 21:41, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

There are multiple sites giving the release date and offering preorders for 10/28/07 so I put that as the release date cause I'm sure if its not that date exactly it's not far off, but go ahead and remove it for you like. IGN.com also say its 10/28/07 http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/899/899096.html

myspace band credibility

How could it not be credible...seing as it is coming from the band?(Moggie mn 23:14, 19 June 2007 (UTC)moggie_mn)

See Wikipedia's policy on Reliable Sources. Myspace is specifically listed as NOT being a reliable source, no matter whose account it's on. Likewise, GameStop's website isn't a reliable source for the release date; that can only be provided by Sony, RedOctane, or Activision. Rdfox 76 23:31, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Matchbook Romance

Another non-credible one for you. Matchbook Romance states that their song Monsters will be in GH3. (I had a link directly to it, didn't know it was on the blacklist, just go find them for yourself, and look at their blog) And i do think, that if it is coming directly from the bands page, it should be credible, just because a lot of bands don't even use real websites for themselves, their answer is Myspace.(St00ben 02:31, 20 June 2007 (UTC))

In addition to this, Radio and Records has reported that "Monsters" from the band's latest album will be in the game.

The sleeping

The band The sleeping has announced on a myspace bulletin that they will be in GH3, but they specify no specific song.

Already posted, look up. (St00ben 17:22, 25 June 2007 (UTC))

Sepultura

In an interview with slash and another guy from velvet revolver on FUSE . slash spoke with steven about guitar hero and mentions sepultura , with sepultura not being in GH1 GH2 or GH80s this gives me reason to beleive sepultura may be in the game, for now consider them a rumored band , if you don't beleive me look up his interview with fuse part 2 on youtube

Not for DS

I searched for it on IGN DS, but it wasn't there. Also, there is another guitar game coming out for DS called Jam Sessions. Link 486 20:07, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

Remember, NO STAIRWAY NCErnst 03:22, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Still speculation at this point, based on the "no stairway" joke (previous jokes about Spinal Tap and Freebird led to these songs being in later games) and the fact Red Octane mentioned being in negotiations with Led Zeppelin for one of their songs. Not anywhere near confirmed at this point; still just speculative rumor.

Controller Compatability

I'm guessing it would be informative to comment on the compatability between the game and existing controllers, or with the new controllers working with the old games. For example, on the 360... will the Les Paul work with GHII? And will the X-Plorer work with GHIII? I'd post on this, but I can't find a good source. —Fumo7887 (talkcontribs) 20:00, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Well, I don't have any evidence or anyhting, but anyone who watched E3 can back me on this. Kecvin from AOTS and the maker of RedOctane or whatever played GH3 on GH2 guitars.--ZacLOL 21:32, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

GH2/3 controllers will be compatible with Rock Band, and if Neversoft wants so, the Rock Band controllers can be compatible with GH2/3. Y2kcrazyjoker4 12:36, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Boss Battles

http://www.gamespot.com/wii/puzzle/guitarhero/news.html?sid=6173866&tag=newlyadded;title;3

It is worth noting that there is official word that "grueling boss battles" will be added to the game, most likely some integration of the new "Battle Mode" into the single player campaign with the opponent controlled by AI

Monsters?

I know that I've seen "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance on the set list before, and I know that the band posted it on their Myspace blog that it would be in. Can anyone tell me why this song isn't on the setlist now?

Added. Thanks for keeping us updated. -- GoDawgs 22:09, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

"Monsters" is not being included in the setlist because, under Wikipedia policy, Myspace pages are not considered reliable sources, no matter whose page it is. If you can find another source that constitutes a reliable source confirming the song is in the game, then we can put the song in. Rdfox 76 22:36, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

"Master track"

This article employs a nonstandard usage for the term master. In the context of music recording, the master recording is the final audio as it is prepared for distribution. In this case, it is used to make a distinction between the new performances prepared for the game, and the original performances ("master tracks"). We should define what we mean by "master track" here. 170.140.210.108 20:35, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

New songs revealed

Scorehero is reporting four new tracks:

- Suck My Kiss - Red Hot Chili Peppers (Master Track!)

- La Grange - ZZ Top

- Number Of The Beast - Iron Maiden (Master Track!!)

- Through The Fire And Flames - Dragon Force (Master Track!!!)

Also in that Scorehero thread is mention of a reworked Hammer-On/Pull-Off system. I'd put this in somewhere, but I'm not sure how to word it or where to put it. FlannelJacket 03:23, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Just a suggestion

Why don't we have the songs listed as Artist - Song instead of how it is now. Like I said, just a suggestion. --Invader TAK 04:58, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Because we don't know the actual artist for a lot of the songs, and in the game, they're listed as "Title, as performed/made famous by Artist." So we keep it that way. Rdfox 76 17:00, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
Because the songs are what make up the game's gameplay, not the artists. Y2kcrazyjoker4 18:26, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
