Guitar Rising is a music video game developed by GameTank. It is scheduled to be released in late 2008, for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. It is similar to Rock Band and the Guitar Hero franchise, only instead of a guitar controller, a real guitar is used (by plugging a guitar-USB adapter or jack plug into a microphone port or directly to the sound card) to play. The on-screen fretboard scrolls from right to left, reading much like a tablature, with the notes lying on the corresponding string showing the number of the fret on which the note is to be played.
