Guinevere (software)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Guinevere is an e-mail filtering program that is built for use with the GroupWise e-mail system. It is one of several third-party products for GroupWise written by Michael Bell now of GWAVA, Inc.

Guinevere's primary features include e-mail virus scanning, Spam filtering, and attachment blocking. Spam filtering is made possible through the use of SpamAssassin, which can be initialized from the software in serial mode or through the use of WinSpamC to call a daemon (spamd). As of version 3.0, SpamAssassin is now integrated with the Guinevere application and does not need to be called externally.

An operational Guinevere will consistently scan the GroupWise Internet Agent (GWIA) for new incoming and outgoing e-mail messages. If a message is marked as infected, as spam, or violates administrator-defined restrictions, it will not be passed back to the GWIA for delivery to the intended recipient. Notifications and marked-up reports regarding blocked messages can be passed through to the end-user.

Guinevere runs in a Microsoft Windows environment.
