Guilty Gear X (ギルティギア ゼクス Giruti Gia Zekusu?, pronounced "Guilty Gear Zex"[citation needed]), subtitled By Your Side, is the second full game in the Guilty Gear series. It was released in multiple versions:

  • Guilty Gear X (ギルティギア ゼクス Giruti Gia Zekusu?)
  • Guilty Gear X Plus (ギルティギア ゼクスプラス Giruti Gia Zekusu Purasu?)
  • Guilty Gear X: Advance Edition (ギルティギア ゼクス アドバンスエディション Giruti Gia Zekusu Adobansu Edishon?)
  • Guilty Gear X ver 1.5

This game takes place a few weeks after the first game. A new Commander Gear was discovered by the name Dizzy. Worried that a second War would start, another Holy Knights Tournament was started. The person who could capture and kill this Gear would be rewarded 500,000 World Dollars.

It is a Playstation 2 version of the game for the Japanese market. English Playstation 2 games are based on the Dreamcast port.

New characters include with Kliff Undersn, Justice as selectable fighters. Each character includes 3 different modes: Normal, Extra, G.G.. Each version gives a different set of moves. Extra and G.G. versions of fighters can be unlocked by beating the respective versions of characters in survival mode. In addition to 3 character modes, black select and gold select versions of the characters can be chosen independently for increased powers.

A story mode is added to the game.

X Plus passwords can be used in Petit 2 to unlock extra elements.

Based on the original arcade game, it adds tag, survival, training, 3-on-3 game modes. Game controls can be set to 3 or 4-button mode.

It includes all fighters in arcade game except Robo-Ky.

The 3-mode character selection from X Plus is included with this release. Characters can be edited to any colours, but do not inherit black select and gold select powers as in the X Plus game.

It is a port of the arcade game for the Atomiswave platform. It adds moves from home versions of X and some elements from XX, with readjusted difficulty. Testament and Dizzy are unlocked.

The game was first unveiled in AOU2003 amusement expo.

It is a portable version of the original game for Wonder Swan Color, with super deformed characters. Available characters include Sol Badguy, Ky Kiske, Millia Rage, May, Potemkin, Fanny, Jam Kuradoberi, GGMillia.

It includes all of super deformed versions of the arcade fighters except Baiken, Dizzy, Robo-Ky. Fanny also returns in this game. GG version of the characters include Millia, May, Sol, Ky. Gold characters from X Plus is also available.

Petit 2 passwords can be used in Guilty Gear X Plus to unlock extra elements.

The Guilty Gear Club is an online game site designed for i-mode mobile phone platform. It includes downloadable contents such as ring tone, voices, comics, mini-games, and the Raid of Arms fighting game.

Raid of Arms fighting game is designed based on the Guilty Gear X series. Available fighters include Sol Badguy, Ky Kiske, May, Baiken, Potemkin, Chipp Zanuff, Millia Rage, Zato-1, Axl Low, Baldhead, Kliff, ES-Watt.

Tension gauge was renamed to chaos gauge.
