Guillermo Marques Jara

Guillermo Marques Jara, born 18th of February 1971 in Chile, Swedish murderer.

On the 4 December 1994 Jara took part in one of the worst shooting sprees in Swedish history when he, and his accomplice started shooting a AG-3 automatic rifle into the crowd in front of the popular restaurant Sturecompagniet in Stockholm, Sweden. It was never proved that Jara fired any of the fatal bullets. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison of which he served 6 years. Upon his release from prison he moved back to his native country to start a new life.
The Swedish political singer/songwriter Mikael Wiehe wrote a song called Fråga Guillermo Marques Jara (Ask Guillermo Marques Jara) which appeared on the album En sång till modet (A Song to Courage). The lyrics of this song reflects on the killings as an accident waiting to happen (the song also features the names of Mattias Flink and Tommy Zethraeus). The focus of the song is however the problems that certain individuals face entering society.
