Guido Baumann

Guido G. Baumann (born 1941) was the Managing Director and later Chairman for A. Baur & Co., a Sri Lankan company founded in 1897. He was born in Muolen in the canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland. In his teens his family moved to Bern. He joined the company in the early 1960s and retired after more than 40 years in 2003. He now lives in Switzerland, not far from Bern. His wife, Marie-Christine, is French and together they have two children: Melanie, she is 24 years old, and Nicolas, he is 18 years old. Guido Baumann is currently writing a book about his time in Sri Lanka and he enjoys painting and gardening. He maintains a betel box collection and a religious statue collection.
