Free Air CO₂ Enrichment or FACE refers to a set of experiments designed to realistically simulate the effects of future carbon dioxide concentrations on growing plants under natural conditions. FACE experiments are not contained and do not separate the plants from natural interactions with other species. They also expose the plants to natural variations in environmental variables and wind flow. This makes FACE experiments unlike growth chamber and greenhouse experiments, and also makes them different from Open top chamber (OTC) experiments.
