Which species does this refer too?

The British record currently stands at 4.50 ounces.The gudgeon can be found in stillwaters, canals and rivers. Feeding on the bottom on such things as the midge, caddis-fly and may-fly larvae.

A very small hook is needed as a fish so small may not be able to fit a hook under a size 16 in its mouth. A list of appropriate baits includes:

Although sweetcorn can be used as a bait, the species prefers living baits. A small float is commonly used.

They are quite happy to take bait and get hooked on a size 12 hook
