Gubbi is located at [1]. It has an average elevation of 767 metres (2516 feet).

As of 2001 India census[2], Gubbi had a population of 16,802. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Gubbi has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80%, and female literacy is 71%. In Gubbi, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Gubbi is the birth place of Veeranna the great Kannada artiste and he is famously known as Gubbi Veeranna. He released the first ever Kannada talki movie and Dr. Rajkumar was working as a child artist in his theater. Later Dr. Rajkumar became the biggest icon in Karanataka.

Gubbi has a beautiful and famous temple of Sri Channabasaveshwara Swami locally called as Gubbiyappa.

On the way to the Gubbi entrance when you are entering from Tumkur side You will be seeing a small Hanuman temple,The speciality of the Hanuman is ,the idol will be on the floor,it won't be in the standing position,You see as if it is in sleeping position. And the roof on the top of the Hanuman idol is opened.
Gubbi is famous for Sri Gosala Channabasaveshwara Temple. It is very beautiful place and the temple is under renovation.
It really cool place and near to this temple around 1 Km distance there is lake called Gubbi Kere. almost all the time this kere will be full. it real nice place to see. Government can do some improvement for providing boating and all those.
