[edit] What is the purpose of this article?
The name of the article is too generic. The combining of Soviet and post-Soviet units and formations in the article is redundant. Other then that, I see no reason for the article since Guard units are noted only for their individual awarding of the title that needs to be dealt with in the unit articles, since the Guard units were not significantly different from other field units and formations in other ways.--mrg3105 (comms) ♠♥♦♣ 01:07, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
