Guaratinguetá Futebol Ltda., usually known simply as Guaratinguetá, is a Brazilian football club from Guaratinguetá, São Paulo state.

On October 1, 1998, [1] the club was founded as Guaratinguetá Esporte Clube by a group of people, including Doctor Mário Augusto Rodrigues Nunes, nicknamed Marinho. [2]
On November 4, 1999, was created the Consórcio de Guaratinguetá (Guaratinguetá Consortium), which is a co-management of the club with the C.S.R Futebol e Marketing enterprise, owned by the entrepreneur Carlos Arini and by the football players César Sampaio and Rivaldo. [2]
On November 26, 1999, the club affiliated to the São Paulo Football Federation, disputing the Campeonato Paulista Série B2 in the following year. [2]
In 2002, the Consórcio de Guaratinguetá ended, but the club was supported by the entrepreneurs Odário Mardegan Durães and Elmiro Aparecido de Faria. [2]
Since 2004, the club is supported by the entrepreneur Sony Alberto Douer. In 2005, he and the entrepreneur Carlos Arini founded Sony Sports, a company created to manage the club. Some time later, the entrepreneurs Clementino Bolan and Gustavo Gazzolla joined Sony Sports. The club was then renamed to its current name, Guaratinguetá Futebol, after it became a limited company. In 2006, Guaratinguetá was eliminated in the Campeonato Paulista Série A2 semifinal stage, in the second position of its group, thus being promoted to the following year's Campeonato Paulista Série A1. [3]
In 2007, the club disputed the Campeonato Paulista Série A1 for the first time. Guaratinguetá was defeated by São Caetano 2-0 at Anacleto Campanella stadium in its debut in the competition. [4]

Guaratinguetá's home stadium is Estádio Dario Rodrigues Leite [5], nicknamed Ninho da Garça, meaning Heron's Nest, [6] with a maximum capacity of 14,415 people. [7]
The club also trains at a training ground named Centro de Treinamento Dario Rodrigues Leite. [8]

The club colors are red and white. The home kit is all red and the away kit is all white. [6]

Guaratinguetá is nicknamed Guará, "O Garça" which is Heron in Portuguese and Tricolor do Vale, which means Valley's Three Colors. [6]

The club's mascot is a heron, designed by the artist Renato Guimarães. The animal is also depicted in the club's logo. [9]
