The Sim Touring Car Cup (STCC) is a professional international sim racing league which is arguably the world's most prestigious Touring Car sim racing league. It is owned and organized by Becky Rose and the CompuTeam Race Authority (CTRA). The CTRA offers a suite of simulated motor sports racing servers connected to a X-System server control software. Currently, the racing simulation game Live for Speed is being used for all events. STCC conducts its championships exclusively with the Touring Car cars.

The STCC has a amazing 120,000 specators that average each race. Each broadcasts are available for download through the main site and viewable through streaming websites such as YouTube.[1]

[edit] History

[edit] Beginnings

The STCC was founded by Becky Rose. The league was founded due to the fact that Rose was irritated by the broadcasts of earlier professional leagues. These broadcasts largely consisted of race replays put together with third party music. Therefore, Becky was inspired to form the STCC in order to simulate a live televised racing event. Tristian Cliffe and Mike Johnson was invited to commentate the races.[2]

The first two broadcasts were a mess. Round 3 broadcast was a turning point. There were many troubles of the first two broadcasts the work force was determined to work harder, but the commentators were not available so Becky Rose stepped up to the microphone herself. Eventually Rose would replace Johnson. A tip from a fan on the visual settings meant the visual quality had improved dramatically and overall round 5 was a seminal moment for the Sim Touring Car Cup. Tristan was not available again so Rose invited Thomas Arends, a former driver, to help with the commentary. The round 6 race was a tough one because it was the longest circuit they had covered so far and using the methods they had been deploying to film meant it was very hard to get good camera coverage over the whole circuit.[3]

[edit] Patch X

For the STCC, the LFS Patch X was the solo most disastrous thing that could possibly have happened at first. The public server system was ruined overnight. As a result, broadcast 8 was canceled (Round 8 was still run by drivers, and results still stand in drivers championship). The STCC was left with no public server system, a colossal amount of work to put the next broadcast out, and the target of a sustained campaign of abuse. Handed over the concept of the public servers to the UKCT team and pledged to carry on the STCC for the drivers only with no broadcasts. CompuTeam Race Authority or the CTRA and unleashed a new creation on the world. It was big, and it's had a huge impact on our sport. The CTRA is now the largest simulated race licensing authority in the world, holding 500 events a day when our next nearest competitor.[4]

[edit] Television

Currently the STCC is running smooth and Becky Rose is working hard to get the STCC aired on a gaming television. [5]

[edit] 2006-2007 Season
