A portrait (pencil drawing) of Guðbrandur Vigfússon. Down in the left corner is written: "Sigurðr Guðmundsson 1867". According to Árbók Fornleifafélagsins 1977 the original measures are 12 x 9 cm.

Note that a photograph was presumably an intermediary in the 1950 publication of the drawing. Such a photograph could qualify under Icelandic law for a 50 year neighboring rights protection which has now expired. Note that prior to 2006 the period was 25 years. The 1950 book was published without a copyright notice. Since the work was in the public domain in Iceland in 1996 the implementation of the URAA would not have restored copyright in it in the United States.
