[edit] NetBot

You previously expressed interest in Netoholic's use of NetBot at Wikipedia talk:Bots#NetBot. The issue has been re-opened, and I would really appreciate it if you could take a look at the page again. —Ben Brockert (42) UE News 03:50, Jan 11, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Consensus Science

Hi. Could you take a look at the recent edits I made to consensus science and consider changing your merge/deletion vote? I believe the new version more accurately describes the clear divide between the two concepts, and adheres more closely toward NPOV. Thanks. Cortonin | Talk 09:28, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] History of video games

Hi, would you mind taking care of the move discussed in Talk:History of video games? --24.114.252.183 19:32, 1 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Ack, I didn't know there was already a history of computer games! So much duplicated effort on my part :(. Thanks for your trouble. I know about the registration, but I lost my taste for it once I got used to 2ch-style message boards. --24.114.252.183 02:42, 2 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Text "salvaged" from Internet terrorism

As you cast a vote on the VfD for Internet terrorism I thought you should be alerted to a current RfC about the fate of the content taking place at Talk:Cyber-terrorism. -- Antaeus Feldspar 20:05, 26 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Calcutta -> Kolkata name change

Hi there. I noticed you voted in the Wikipedia:Naming policy poll to keep the Wikipedia policy of naming an article with the most familiar English name. You may not be aware that another attempt has begun to rename the Calcutta article to Kolkata, which is blatantly not the most common name of the city, whether it's official or not. If you want to vote on the issue you can do so at Talk:Calcutta. Cheers. -- Necrothesp 13:57, 5 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] GRider

Regarding GRider's 'Socratic' VfD nominations and the ensuing reactions by voters, please read and comment on Wikipedia:Requests for comment/GRider2. Thanks. Radiant_* 10:29, Mar 22, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Restructuring

Please revisit this and vote on #2C and #6 (variations on earlier proposals). Yours, Radiant_* 15:30, Apr 14, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] D&D

Thank you thank you thank you for removing the D&D category from Mermaids. Why every creature mentioned in some D&D book should have a D&D category notice at the bottom is beyond me. The only downside to your action, however, is that it may inspire someone to add real information about Mermaids in D&D. Blech. Lectiodifficilior 04:12, 8 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Countdown to Infinite Crisis

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for merging the Countdown to Inifinite Crisis articles. It looks like you did a very thorough job of it. I would've done it myself, but I wasn't familiar enough with the storyline. Norvy 20:16, 18 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Adminship

Thanks for your support during the vote. It was much appreciated.--Wiglaf 20:02, 25 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Category:Books by title

Did you see that consensus was already been reached on this issue? It was a CfD before, but they decided in the end to keep it, because of the new software improvements. There are so many categories, why pick on books and operas? Is it just the name? Would renaming be OK with you? --DrG 08:12, 2005 Jun 13 (UTC)

"X by name/title" simply isn't a useful characteristic for use in categories; the point has been/is being argued on CfD dozens of times. -Sean Curtin 23:58, Jun 15, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Category:Dungeons & Dragons creatures

Re your removal of articles from Category:Dungeons & Dragons creatures - I'm trying to work out how to be consistent on this. It could be argued from [[Wikipedia:Categorization#When_to_use_categories|]] that articles should only be in this category if Dungeons & Dragons is mentioned in the article. However, some members of this category are members of only this category - so the category cannot be removed entirely. The problem with this approach is Category:Dungeons & Dragons creatures would be incomplete - containing only some of the Dungeons & Dragons creatures. The rest could be in say List of creatures of Dungeons & Dragons, but this seems to me to be a very clumsy compromise. What do you think? NB. the same applies to other categories like Category:Harry Potter animals etc. ··gracefool | 06:49, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I think that the best option is to only place creatures that are only or primarily found in D&D in the D&D creatures category. Categorizing "Ogre", "Goblin" et al as D&D creatures seems silly to me. A list of every creature that's ever been used in D&D would be utterly useless, given how many hundreds if not thousands of creatures (real, mythological, and newly created for D&D) have been given D&D statistics. It almost seems that list of legendary creatures not used in Dungeons & Dragons would be shorter than list of Dungeons & Dragons creatures. -Sean Curtin 00:05, Jun 16, 2005 (UTC)
Okay. And yes, it certainly would be! ··gracefool | 03:39, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I notice you voted keep in a December 2004 CfD vote about this category. It's been voted for deletion but I am trying to save it. Please come to Votes for undeletion to express your view. David | Talk 18:12, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Existence of God merger

I'm attempting to develop a consensus in favor of merging the Arguments against the existence of God and the Arguments for the existence of God articles. A beta version of the resulting article is available at Existence of God. To date, there seems to be consensus in favor of this merger on the "for" talk page, I'm now trying to get a consensus together on the "against" talk page. Please visit Talk:Arguments against the existence of God to weigh in. I'm copy-and-pasting this message to everybody who has contributed to that talk page. crazyeddie 05:49, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Fifth World Article

Just wanted to tell you someone arbitrarily took out the Fifth World nations paragraph in the article about the Fifth World, and any reference to the Fifth World Council, even though both are very real, and actually some members of the Council are registered or incorporated International Organizations, Intentional Communities, national Cooperatives and other Organizations.

If I revert the edits, all I'll get is the same. You are an active Editor in the Wikipedia, and I would think that if an International Organization like the Fifth World Council is significant, resourceful, and intelligent enough to run its own public Top-Level Domain (pTLD), something North Korea is not capable enough to do, I don't believe we are talking about the usual micronation. Even still, is Atlantium, a micronation, more real than the Fifth World Council?

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you will do something against this obvious bias, which is neither helpful to the Wikipedia, or those seeking the truth and objectivity within its web pages.

Cesidio Tallini

Atlantium is a bad example, as I don't think that either it or the FWC are notable enough for Wikipedia. -Sean Curtin June 29, 2005 03:48 (UTC)

[edit] Major cities in North Dakota

I'd like it if you'd reconsider your stance at CFD [1]. I've made significant improvements to the implementation of the category, and have incorporated the "largest cities" from Template:North Dakota, which can be neatly summed up with a strict population limit of 2450, or a more interpretive limit of 3000.

It is, as BaronLarf points out, somewhat arbitrary, but I believe it is more useful than not.

Please bear in mind that there is no legal differentiation between large and small communities in North Dakota, as with Towns in [state] and Villages in [state] that most states have. I feel that Category:Cities in North Dakota, being the full list of all communities, is inadequate, while Category:Metropolitan areas in North Dakota is too restrictive. This category fills an important niche that until now has not been met. --Alexwcovington (talk) 07:25, 10 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Elizabeth II renaming (round XXXIV)

You may have noticed *mega sigh* that yet another user has dragged up the lets rename Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom farce, only 9 days after the last vote ended. (What next? A vote every day on the issue next?) I have proposed instead this vote on Talk:Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom page:

That Wikipedia stop wasting time on endless revoting on this (goddamned) issue and ban votes on this issue from this page for at least six months.

Hopefully this will put this nonsense to bed for at least 6 months. Your (hopefully final) vote would be welcome. FearÉIREANNImage:Ireland coa.png\(caint) 21:12, 19 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Aine

Hello, since you have contributed to the article Aine, you may be interested in voting on the question of whether to move Aine to Áine. --Angr/tɔk tə mi 12:33, 30 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Rob Hubbard

I see you added (arcade game) to a lot of links. I think it would be better to use just (game) or another more general term, as these games were published for several platforms.

[edit] Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Government Warehouse

You nominated Government Warehouse for deletion, but changed your mind after a rewrite that removed a list of "fictional contents of a hypothetical warehouse". You might be interested to learn that Reddi (talk · contribs) has been reverting to the previous version that you nominated, restoring that list and removing the rewrite, and has just created List of the Government Warehouse's contents too. [edit] Timeline of the Marvel Universe

My thanks for editing and expanding on my work in this page. I wasn't satisfied with the first version and was going to revise it soon anyway. I will continue to contribute to it in the coming days, but in general I feel it stands well enough now. I only hope it won't get filled with interesting but not really major Marvel historical facts by fans.

I'm also planning on posting a similar Timeline for the DC Universe soon. Wilfredo Martinez 03:53, 22 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] {{Vote bar}}

In the TFD you have voted to delete this template because you apparently feel it should not be used in VFD votes. However, I am wondering if you may have overlooked the discussion where people are voting to keep this template so that it may be used in the article namespace to portray the outcome of real world votes. Such as this example. If possible, would you clarify at the TFD whether you would see this template as acceptable in uses other than voting within Wikipedia? [edit] Categorization

In light of the recent CFD debate about fictional emperors and empresses, I decided that the issue was way overdue for a more global discussion. Thus, please join the talk at Wikipedia:Categorization/Gender, race and sexuality. Radiant_>|< 07:48, September 1, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics/exemplars

I worked up ideas on how to structure comics related articles from the previous discussions and placed them at Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics/exemplars. I also copied relevant discussion to the talk page. Please feel free to comment and amend. Steve block talk 23:09, 5 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Category: British Hills by Height and Category:Mountains by_Elevation (km)

I am posting this to all the particants of the Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Category:Books by title discussion and debate. (Where the categories were voted for deletion).

This earlier discussion has been cited as an example as to why the category Category:Mountains by Elevation (km) (and sub cats) should be deleted.

Could you please take a look at the following CFD and vote. Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2005 September 1#Category:Mountains by Elevation (km) and its subcategories

A complication could be that Category: British Hills by Height seems be to liked by the actual British Hills content contributors. By contrast the category Category:Mountains by_Elevation (km) is not liked by User:RedWolf who seems to be a major Mountain page contributor.

Special note: the Ocean trenches by depth categories were added after the all of the people had voted. But frankly these have no real contributors and would probably get deleted if another vote was taken. You should specifically mention these to ensure there is no confusion in future.

[edit] Rosicrucian article

Dear user Gtrmp, as I have seen a edition of yours at the article Rosicrucian, I come to request your support to this article that I have just purposed for nomination at Wikipedia:Featured_article_candidates#Rosicrucian. May you may give a look into it? And, if you consider it acceptable, then may you support it? Thank you! :) --GalaazV 02:49, 9 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Superhero

As a contributor to the above article, would you mind looking through it and seeing if you can provide any references? [edit] Comics Collaboration of the Fortnight

As a member of WikiProject Comics, I thought you might be interested in the Comics Collaboration of the Fortnight we have set up. Please feel free to vote on the articles listed, although bear in mind that a vote for a particular article means you are pledging to help improve the article. The goal of the collaboration is to improve articles to Featured Article status, as we feel Comics is under-represented in that area. Thanks for your help. [edit] 2000AD (comic) nomination

Hiya there,

You've contributed to the article on 2000 AD (comic) in the past, so I thought you might be interested in the fact that it's been nominated for the Comics Collaboration of the Fortnight. If you'd like to support the nomination, please go to the WP:CMCC page and add your name! (And if not, there are a few other articles there you might like to vote for, I guess). Cheers, Vizjim 15:10, 27 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Abbreviation expanding for country names

I believe you supported the following proposal for a speedy criterion, and I believe I followed the rules and after a week in which no objections were raised I listed it as a criterion. After one day, it has been removed as one user has issues with it. If you still support it I would appreciate your comments at CFD talk

  • Abbreviation expanding for country names: The name of the country should appear as it does in the name of of the article about that country (e.g. US or U.S. in reference to the United States should be renamed to the United States)

[edit] Ospreys

I have changed the redirect to the disambiguation page as I think this allows those searching for Ospreys (rugby union team) an easier way of finding the page if they're just searching on "ospreys". If you've got any major concerns about this let me know. EconomistUK 10:16, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Norse mythology naming convention vote notice

A new proposal on the representation of Norse mythology names is now up for a vote. Some people object to it on the grounds that it would use non-English characters in some article titles. It would be interesting to hear your view since you've commented on related votes in the past. - Haukur Þorgeirsson 00:51, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] William-Adolphe Bouguereau gallery

You have in the past edited William-Adolphe Bouguereau. A related article, the William-Adolphe Bouguereau gallery has been nominated for deletion for violating WP:NOT (AfD here). A proposal to modify WP:NOT is here. Please join either or both conversations and comment as you see fit. Dsmdgold 16:57, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Category:Songs by year

I notice you created Category:Songs by year, which contains articles whose titles begin with a year. If you have time, could you please go through and make sure the articles are sorted in their respective year (or year-in) parent categories using sortkeys as outlined at Wikipedia:Categorization#Year categories? (Don't forget to start the sortkey with a capital letter.) If you've done this already, thanks and sorry for bugging you about this. I plan to go through a ton of such pages early next year; it would be nice if some of the work were already done... - dcljr (talk) 01:28, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
