Private GEO. STANLEY PEACHMENT, V.C., (18), Manchester Road, Bury, of the King's Royal Rifles, was killed in France on September 25th, 1915, under circumstances which gained him the Victoria Cross. A memorial to him has been erected in Parkhills U.M. Church, Bury.
