Gschnitz is a municipality in the southern part of the district Innsbruck-Land and is located 25 km south of Innsbruck on a height of 1242m. Gschnitz was mentioned as „Gasnitz“ in 1288 for the first time. The development of the center occurred in the 18th century. The Gschnitz brook provides the village with drinking water.
