[edit] Magic set project

Hello Grue. I think I'd like to eventually help you out on the notable set project, but I don't currently have much time. When you make these articles, be sure to include significant encyclopedic detail, otherwise people (like those who frequent Wikipedia:Votes for deletion) will rather insist the articles be merged into one. I think you're on the right track by requiring we list mechanics, notable cards, impact on the game, and so forth. Cool Hand Luke 11:27, 20 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you for fixing my formating

Altoug i do not have the foggiest idea what i did to make my reply a long text box, thankyou for fixing it. I shall have to lern the proper format before i give another reply (and yes i know magnolias are a bit boring- expecially to the uninterested)

If you start a line with an empty space it is formatted as preformatted typewriter text - that's why it was formatted wrong. I must clarify that I have no objection to your magnolia articles - they are a great addition to Wikipedia. But I think Magic cards deserve their place too :). Grue 19:37, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)
I see your point. Really, my objection isnt really to your article (which is fine, now that i see it) my real issue is with the vast amount of new articles added each day on people that are hardly noteable, or the ones that do not contain enough information to justify a new article. I will revoke my delete vote.

[edit] CamelCase

I am very sorry. I did not see that the NetVillage article gave Wikipedia as its source. I should know better and I will fix the copyvio notice. 17:58, 12 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Jick

I'm a KoL player, but I put my oppose vote in for the Jick page. What do you think could be added to make it encyclopedic, but doesn't belong on the KoL page? --Elijah 21:42, 2005 Jan 6 (UTC)

I think the articles on Jick and Mr.Skullhead must exist just because red links in the main article look ugly. There is some stuff that could be added to the article such as the explanation of his nickname and his previous projects (Krakrox the Barbarian). Grue 06:56, 7 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Carmella DeCesare

Salve, Grue!
Just wanted to drop a line and thank you for your kind words re my PMOY article and for your vote against its deletion. Ave atque vale! PedanticallySpeaking 20:36, Feb 8, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] PRC, ROC, mainland China, Taiwan, etc.

Hello Grue. Thank you for joining the discussion over the titles of China-related topics articles. Would you mind help explain to the contributors who opposed renaming because they thought the new titles are confusing, that how these terms differ from each other, and how the choice of one of these terms as a title is important. Thanks in advance. — Instantnood 18:20, Feb 19 2005 (UTC)

Hello Grue. The vote and discussion at Wikipedia:Requested moves#Economy of Taiwan → Economy of the Republic of China is getting messy. Do you think there's anything that we could do? — Instantnood 12:38 Feb 28 2005 (UTC)

Grue, if you read about Taiwan outside of Wikipedia, you will see that it has been artificially restricted to mean Taiwan Island (this is a convention not used in Chinese or English). Taiwan Island is always called Taiwan Island in Chinese. Everybody calls everything Taiwanese Taiwan, not ROC, which is a government. For an English example, think about American. "American cars" not "cars of the United States of America". This has nothing to do with politics, and would make sense from both a unificationist point of view, since presumably Taiwan will still have an economy/cinema/etc after it hypothetically merged with China, and from a Taiwanese independent point of view, they see things from a Taiwanese identity/culture that is not necessarily tied to the government, i.e. some even see the ROC as illegitimate and want to set up a Republic of Taiwan. Please consider changing your vote.--160.39.195.88 20:35, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] RfC

Hello there. I am recently being listed on RfC. Feel free to comment as you wish to. I regard it as a way out and to have the matter settled. Thanks. — Instantnood 19:19 Mar 1 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Campaigning for VfU stuff

Please don't. It's really not constructive. Imagine Wikipedia if everyone campaigned on every vote. I don't want to. Daniel Quinlan 05:44, Mar 7, 2005 (UTC)

  • I believe in this particular case it is worth to bring attention to the new facts that appeared amidst discussion. I haven't sent the message to anyone outside the discussion, only to those who voted already. Grue 05:56, 7 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] "Mainland China" in titles

Hello. I have proposed at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (Chinese) to change the title of some articles and categories. Would you be interested to join the discussion and say something? — Instantnood 20:34, Mar 11, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Compulsory voting

In answer to your question on VfD, easily enough. It is compulsory to enroll on the electoral roll - that's the tricky part. Once you're on the roll, you have to get your name ticked off in the polling booth. If there's no tick beside your name after polling day, and you can't provide an excuse, you will be mailed a small fine. Lacrimosus 00:49, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] GRider

Regarding GRider's 'Socratic' VfD nominations and the ensuing reactions by voters, please read and comment on Wikipedia:Requests for comment/GRider2. Thanks. Radiant_* 10:29, Mar 22, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Ivan Cherevko

Its gone on forever, but the VfD has finally (it seems) closed and apparantely the article will be gone later today. So much for the campaigns that the Ukrainian guys were running. Hedley 23:59, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Invalid vote

Please demonstrate how my vote is "invalid". --Gene_poole 00:40, 23 Mar 2005 (UTC)

  • Please demonstrate why this nomination is invalid. The same logic could be applied to your vote. Grue 05:55, 23 Mar 2005 (UTC)
    • The nomination is invalid because the nominator has not followed the instructions. Chris 19:28, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

User:GRider has flooded Wikipedia:Votes for deletion with what many people believe to be incorrectly nominated articles. In order not to follow suit, people like Gene_poole and myself have chosen to use small blurbs instead of larger explanations. (I did use a larger blurb until someone told me to knock it off.) The logic for a keep vote is simple. The nomination is seen to be invalid, so by default the article should be kept until a valid nomination is introduced. —Markaci 2005-03-23 T 21:55 Z

[edit] VFD List

If the page doesn't load, that's not my responsibility. But if the list is not updating, then it is my responsibility. -- AllyUnion (talk) 01:20, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikifun

You have won wikifun round 6. Congratulations! Do you want to host the next round or shall that honor pass to Eugene van der Pijll? Gkhan 18:32, Mar 27, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Rance

Please remember that VfD is not a vote. There were five users who voted delete, but none, including the nominator, gave much explanation or reasoning. The one voter who argued it should be kept made a clear argument that was never rebutted. Add to that the dubious nature of the nomination and I decided the page should be kept. If you strongly feel it should be deleted there is no rule against relisting it on VfD. - SimonP 13:55, Mar 31, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Labyrinth

Dear Grue.

You removed the link The Traditional Catholic View and Use of Labyrinths from the Labyrinth page, which may or may not be appropriate; I don't know; I have only looked briefly at the linked page. In your edit summary, you describe it as a "spam link" - but that seems inappropriate to me; at worst, it's a link to a POV page. Would you like to reconsider the case? --Niels Ø 13:37, Apr 1, 2005 (UTC)

  • I didn't remove the link, someone other did. Grue 14:38, 1 Apr 2005 (UTC)
My mistake - sorry.--Niels Ø 20:46, Apr 1, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] wikifun

Would you mind letting me know when you post the new round of wikifun? I get so busy and I've missed every round. So if you could let me know when you put the new questions on, that would be great. Thanks a lot. --Rentastrawberry 01:54, Apr 2, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Finns

I made a change to your page on sterotypes. In case I offended you, I beg you to forgive me a nice and sunny day sometime in the future!

/Tuomas 14:23, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)

No problem. This is not my page, it was deleted from the main namespace. I keep it here as a reference material. Grue 16:44, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I guessed so - I may even have a recall of the deletion discussion stored somewhere far away in a dwindling of my memory. :-) /Tuomas 17:35, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] wikifun confusion

Hmm, I don't entirely understand how the answer pages for wikifun are supposed to work, but question 20 has one editing a redirect, and 19 and 1 have one answering on a page that has old answers (I guess the latter situation is correct?). As I don't know what it's supposed to do, I can't really fix it. -- John Fader (talk | contribs) 13:59, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • Damn, it's a bug that happens everytime. I'm trying to fix it ASAP. Grue 14:01, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] User:Dr Zen/keepschools

The discussion on this template on a user subpage has been moved from WP:TFD to WP:VFD as user:Netoholic closed the discussion in its former location with the comment that TfD is only for entries in the Template: namespace. I have taken the liberty of moving your vote from its former location to the present discussion at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Dr Zen/keepschools. You may of course change your vote or stikethrough it all together in the normal way. To avoid any allegations of vote stacking I am contacting everybody who voted at TfD and Netoholic who closed the discussion, but not anybody who had not already expressed an opinion. Please feel free to disucss this on my talk page. Thryduulf 14:48, 13 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Famous Blunders Vfd

Thank you for having an open mind and basing your vote on the current content of the article and not on the original page, which was definately very silly (but intended to be an encyclopedic, improvable stub at the same time). By, the way, if you are looking for more entries for BJOADN, you should check out the bottom of Wikipedia:Votes_for_deletion/List_of_the_Great_Boners_of_all_time. It's really more of a serious satire then a bad joke or "nonsense", but I think you'd appreciate it.

Wow, you also are a programmer, too... like me. (I guess that figures... with a name like Grue... from the colossal cave adventure, right?) Hmmm, "Virtual Game Developer" sounds interesting. I'll take a look at it.

[edit] Links between Iraq and Al-Qaeda

Could you please vote on the proposed move Links between Iraq and Al-Qaeda → Alleged links between pre-invasion Iraq and Al-Qaeda? The vote is here. I am opposed to the move since "alleged" is POV and prejudges the evidence. Thanks. ObsidianOrder 11:50, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
