Grupo de Operaciones Especiales (Mexico)

The Grupo de Operaciones Especiales (Special Operations Group, GOPES) has 87 members, divided into groups of 8 to 12 operators. They are the operative tactical group of the Federal Preventive Police. Their mission is to carry out a variety of operations such as: hostage rescue, apprehension of highly dangerous criminals, counter-narcotics, counter-terrorism and fight organized crime.
The GOPES are a well-trained force. They have taken courses from the Mexican GAFE, Spanish GEO, Colombian AFEUR, French RAID, United States FAMS and the Marine Airborne Battalion of the Mexican Navy.
