[edit] Luminous efficacy
Is "efficacy" even a word? If CFLs produce less excess heat, that means they must be more efficient than HIDs. Which is true?
Light != Plant Food; "everything thing else that we provide to a plant is help it digest and use the light" is false. Both of these were apparently based on a 10-year-old's knowledge of botany.
Lumen != light density. Lumen != "light intensity striking the surface of the plant". The lumen is the SI unit of luminous flux. A lumen is in no way related to the imperial "foot", "candle" or otherwise and is instead defined as 1 candela-steradian. The lumen is already metric; the lux is a derived unit of illuminance and is defined as 1 lumen per square metre, again totally unrelated to candles or feet.
