Shouldn't it be the Gross Enrollment ratio? ... No, nevermind, British spelling that's used by the United Nations --Thatnewguy 18:19, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

As to the means by which this ratio is calculated,

...(GER) is calculated by dividing the total number of students enrolled at each level (regardless of age) by the population of the age group that 'should' be enrolled at that level

There is no frame of reference for the population that "should" be enrolled. How is this factor quantified in the general statistic? What's the actual formula? --Caen 04:27, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

The UN HDI report defines it as 'of official school age', so I put that in, with the qualifier that it's only on the UN one. Perhaps different organizations (national ones, for example) would use a different measure? It's open to clarification. NByz 18:08, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
