This stat has been around longer than Gleeman. Multiplying OBP by a number between 1.4 and 2 has been done for years. Its never been popular because once you introduce this fudge factor, you lose the simplicity of OPS... and you might as well go all out and use a comprehensive metric like RC or linear weights. Gleeman actually cites Tom Tango ("TangoTiger") is his blog entry about GPA as where he got his idea. DavidRF (talk) 07:47, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
