Grosvenor-Strathmore (formerly Grosvenor) is a Washington Metro station in Montgomery County, Maryland on the Red Line. It serves the residential area of North Bethesda as well as a number of park and ride commuters.
It is the first above-ground station on the western leg of the Red Line, as well as the first station outside of the Capital Beltway. The station lies north of the eastern terminus of Interstate 270 and the Beltway, at the intersection of Rockville Pike and Tuckerman Lane.
Service to Grosvenor, named for its proximity to Grosvenor Lane, began on July 25, 1984. It remained the western terminus of the Red Line until the extension of that line to Shady Grove that December. Trains from Silver Spring continue to terminate here on an approximately alternating schedule during peak times.
In February of 2005, the Music Center at Strathmore opened adjacent to the station, prompting the name change to Grosvenor-Strathmore. The arts complex and station are connected via an elevated pedestrian walkway, the Carlton R. Sickles Memorial Sky Bridge.
