GORDON ROBERT MADDISON

Singer, songwriter, recording artist and producer Gordon Robert Maddison has been performing and recording since the age of fifteen. Born in April of 1955, the son of an Irish mother and Royal Marine father stationed in Canada, Gordon was born in Montreal, Quebec and declared a citizen of both Canada and The UK. He began his interest in music at age five, when he got a set of children's drums for a Christmas gift, but it was not until eight that he picked up the guitar. By 15 years old, he was mingling with some of Montreal's best... his neighbor, Cliff Edwards (The Bells), and even Leonard Cohen. However, to his dismay, his mother, divorced from his father, and his step father emigrated to the United States... A move Gordon has always regretted. At the age of 20, after a stint in the US Army, Gordon began performing in S.Florida clubs and venues, particularly the long since demolished "Castaways Hotel and Wreck Bar" and The Newport, where he played guitar for "Fire and Ice" and other bands. While at the Newport, he opened for "The Association" and other mainline acts as well. Following his club performances, Gordon worked as a session player, mostly on Guitar and Drums, and often sat in session as a "ghost" for other bands.

At age 27, Gordon Robert Maddison semi-retired from performing and recording and went back to school where he earned several degrees and honors. In all, he attended Broward Community College, Florida Atlantic University, The University of Durham (UK), and Berklee College of Music. Today, happily married with two children, he lives in Davie, Florida where he works as a tenured college professor, continues to compose (Gordon has over 40 songs listed in the ASCAP catalog), produces recordings in his own studio, performs with his own group, "8 Bells Till," and teaches private lessons in Piano, Drums, Guitar, Bass, and Voice.
