[edit] Reply about image help

Hi there! you say you were having a little bit of trouble with fair use images, well fair use images mean that they are from othr websites and have only been permited for use on certain areas of Wikipedia, for example fair use images should not be used on User pages, for more info (I know it seems long and hard) but please see Wikipedia:Fair use. For the fair use rationale then you can use this template when uploading fair use images:

{{Fair use rationale
|Description=
|Source=
|Portion=
|Purpose=
|Resolution=
|Replaceability=
|other_information= (optional variable, can be left out)
}}

For more information on this you may wish to see the fair use rationale guideline, if you would like the image to be kept on wikipedia in which I noted you about above all you need to is remove the no rationale template I placed and add what I typed above for the template and fill the gaps in and that will make it suitable not to be deleted, however you have seven days for the images so if this is not done within this time then they will be speedily deleted but it gives you a lot of time to sort it. I hope this helps you and if you are still strugling please leave me a message and I'll help again. Sorry for the long message! Regards - Aquasplash 22:27, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

If you scanned it from the CD to your computer and you did not find it on anywebsites then you can use {{PD-self}} and that means you release it into the public domain or if you would like it to be copyrighted to you (if you made it) you can use {{CopyrightedFreeUse-User}}. Thanks - Aquasplash 11:58, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Despina Vandi

Yes I will edit it. I responded to the talk page on the Despina Vandi wikipedia that you wrote too. As I said there, it is my little project to improve the discograpies of some of the Greek singers over prob. the next month. I'll get to it very soon. Its hard work, but a good result. Greekboy 05:49, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. I didn't realize that I was typing it that way. Just a word of advice. When you make new CD pages, you should try to categorize them too (add categories on the bottom) whenever possible. Greekboy 21:45, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Discographies

Looks very nice. But I am going to try to message the person that took them out and see exactly why it has to be taken out. I read the rule, but they are being used to illustrate the information. If I can't, then I'll doing it like Peggy Zina's. I saw they took out the ones from Despina Vandi too.... Greekboy 02:35, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm. I plan to complain. The rule dosnt make sense. Because there is another rule I beleave that says you are allowed to use album covers to illustrate the information. Even if it is copyrighted. Greekboy 03:08, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Heaven Music

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Heaven Music, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.heavenmusic.gr/englishText/0,5717,1,00.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 15:48, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Heaven Music, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Kannie | talk 17:07, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Heaven Music

Hey there. The Heaven Music category under Pop Record Labels is kind of weird as it's the only entry in the whole pop records category to include subcategories. It's strange to have it listed as a category of its own when no other label on English Wikipedia is done that way. Maybe you can look into it since you have been editing articles relating to Heaven. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Imperatore (talkcontribs) 23:38, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

LOL Indeed it's smart but I just find it weird to stand out like that, maybe it's just me...

Oh I remember seeing the Sony BMG category too, although it doesn't appear under pop record labels since there is no Sony BMG Greece page yet! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Imperatore (talkcontribs) 23:51, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Yeah that's me- I do intend to make one along with a universal greece over the long run lol. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Imperatore (talkcontribs) 23:56, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] More regarding historical labels

Aside for those historical relevance reasons I mentioned on your other account, I just want to further express to you the significance of adding Columbia as well to releases pre-"Eho Sta Matia Ourano" for Kaiti Garbi. Back then Columbia at Sony Music Greece operated as an imprint that took centre stage. I remember Atofio Hrisafi (94) around when Kaiti shot to super-stardom- it was well labeled (as in marketed/advertised) that Kaiti's albums were Columbia releases, perhaps even offsetting the Sony Music label which was probably at the time the name of the company (Sony Music Entertainment Greece S.A.).

The infobox reads Label...as in logo/brand of the release...and back then it was most certainly Columbia (and the sony music logo), issued by the company Sony Music greece - but it doesn't say music company.

Furthermore the Columbia imprint is still used today but now Sony BMG gr. chooses not to place promotional emphasis on the imprint (its just a tiny logo near the fine print on the back of cd covers). All marketing efforts in Greece represent only Sony BMG, therefore it makes sense for post-2004 releases to only carry Sony BMG as a label in the infoboxes (although adding Columbia wouldn't be wrong but it complicates things and it is not so representative of current promos.)

Ok so those are my ideas....speaking from some experience of the old ways...sorry if my tone sounded a bit too domineering but it's just that I really stand by what I've observed over the years. lol. ttysoon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Imperatore (talkcontribs) 06:00, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Hey, firstly I want to apologize for thinking you and greekboy were the same person lol.... I'm glad you agree about the Columbia issue and I want to congratulate your work on all those album pages for Garbi. Please see greekboy's talk, if you haven't already, for the first part of my argument, and I will tell him to do the same.

About omitting Sony Music- The reason why it's there along with Columbia is because it clarifies that it's an imprint and not Columbia Records on its own...If the company was Columbia ent. gr it would be appropriate to only have columbia, but operating through a "sony music" company as an imprint how I posted it seems to me more clear... However if Sony Music were to be omitted I would definitely not argue it out/change back lol. As for the Columbia links I will fix them eventually.

p.s. remember that adding Columbia is only most appropriate for pre-2004 releases in my opinion, therefore you guys should keep Paparizou's new album as only Sony BMG as you have previously settled on. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Imperatore (talkcontribs) 00:04, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Porta ston Ourano & iTunes

Hi. The song has been released digitally in all digital stores, so it's wrong to write that it will be available in May. You can ask SONY BMG GREECE, if you want so. iTunes, which is the biggest digital outlet, doesn't have it available yet. Also, i may inform you that you shouldn't add iTunes charts according to Wikipedia.. WP:Charts:

Charts pertaining to only one specific retailer (such as iTunes, Amazon.com or Wal-Mart) should not be used. In addition, unofficial charts from television-related countdown shows (such as MTV's TRL or BET's 106 & Park) should not be used as they are not derived from verifiable sales and/or airplay totals.

Thank you and goodnight.--Chronisgr (talk) 19:04, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

I don't say that it's available in iTunes but it will be. The song has been available prior to the date you've given(plus there's no source for this, ask SONY BMG i told you)

One site i have found is: http://www.e-shop.gr/search_trk.phtml?id=TRK.0263737 The download is legal and it is the original version of course.

If you're not the one who added this chart, then for sure is someone from the guys you mentioned in your first message. Inform them please. Thanks.--Chronisgr (talk) 19:25, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

I don't know when exactly in April the song released in greek digital outlets that's why i didn't add something i didn't know. I only added iTunes because Ilias Pantelopoulos claimed that. Ilias Pantelopoulos who's responsible for digital sales in Sony BMG said that it was available in April at musichellas, e-shop etc and on 2/5 (or 3/5 at the latest as you said) on iTunes and mp3greek. As Ringtone and Ring back tone on 18/4. www.sonybmg.gr--Chronisgr (talk) 19:47, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Ilias Pantelopoulos from Sony BMG said that. You may ask him.--Chronisgr (talk) 00:30, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Which chart? It's OK if you think that by releasing it on iTunes it's official release. In fact, it's logical because iTunes is one of the biggest-if not the biggest-worldwide digital outlets. But the song has been available for digital downloa in more than one digital stores and it wasn't for promotion. Contact Sony BMG for more details.--Chronisgr (talk) 20:53, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

I've wrote you what they've told me about the digital release. It's useless to repeat. I'm still waiting to download the song from iTunes store--Chronisgr (talk) 22:28, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

It's been available in most-if not all- greek digital stores so it's official released.--Chronisgr (talk) 22:33, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Yeah but in iTunes Greece Madonna's new album & single is not available either. That doesn't mean that it hasn't been released in the country. Plus, since the single is available for download in the majority of greek digital stores, that makes it officially released. Ilias Pantelopoulos from Sony BMG Greece said that the single was released in April for download in greek digital stores and in May on mpgreek and itunes.--Chronisgr (talk) 23:22, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

www.sonybmg.gr there you will find his e-mail and contact. I don't ask you to write it on Wikipedia. I'm just telling you where i found the information about iTunes and other digital outlets. Besides, many facts are unsourced so big deal. --Chronisgr (talk) 00:50, 3 May 2008 (UTC

I AM REALLY SORRY BUT I GOT SO EXCITED WITH THE NEWS SO I TRIED TO DO IT MY OWN.what should i do now??? (talk) 10:220, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

When are you gonna fix it????????(talk) 06:50, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Proteriotita

Haha I feel so stupid now...I thought you were referring to Paparizou's new album since I read fast. Proteriotita from 2004 was probably pre-Sony BMG transitioning that happened in 2004. (And it probably is Sony Music since that would explain why it is Columbia and not RCA.) Let me know what your cd cover says, although from what I gather from your message it is Sony Music. If it is pre- bmg then yes we should put it in and keep it consistent with Kaiti Garbi's entries. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Imperatore (talkcontribs) 02:06, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sony Labels Proposal

Hey Grk1011, this is the same message I posted on Greekboy's talk:

Hahaha I have a very bold proposal to make concerning the whole label thing.

For Sony BMG releases, example Anna Vissi or Kaiti Garbi, I think we should also include Columbia. LOOOL

My reasoning is as follows:

1. Columbia is still inscribed as an imprint on the back cd covers and on the spine next to the Sony BMG logo and it's just as big.
2. For Kaiti Garbi it would be nice to include it on her albums because it shows a continuity that hasn't ceased yet, and its nice to see that 90% of her career was associated with the oldest name in recorded music.
3. Of course since the marketing today is Sony BMG only unlike in the 90s when Columbia was more up and front, we can just put it after sony BMG as such: Sony BMG / Columbia (and this also respects the order on the spines).
4. As in the Sony Music article there have been talks of a de-merger, so transitioning back to columbia / sony music will ensure more consistency in some sense.

5. Paparizou is the only one I know of right now who has the RCA logo, so there is some kind of mysterious differentiation effort on the part of the company which I think is worthy of indicated. Especially since she releases albums through other Sony BMG divisions, there must be some kind of significance. lol

Please don 't be shy to object as I have no other argumentation to bombard anyone with for the moment lol... I just want some input from you guys who created the pages before going on an editing rampage

Imperatore (talk) 01:21, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Your chart to me makes some sense, but the imprint shouldn't have a country name as it defeats the meaning of an imprint. Instead I would switch it with record label (which I would rename as company as to avoid confusion with the whole imprint/label business.- it also makes a nice greek translation! diskographiki etairia)
Furthermore, Kaiti STILL has the Columbia imprint (see proposal above), so I'm not quite sure what general meaning your table must take on just yet. I wanna confirm with greekboy and get his input as we've had similar discussions on Anna's discography. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Imperatore (talkcontribs) 01:32, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

The reason why I was putting Columbia before Sony Music (the company) is because we had established how Columbia was really important and was at the forefront, especially in the 90s, in marketing/advertising. This is also the way MAD TV used to do it. However for wikipedia purposes I guess it's better to keep a consistency over whatever other logic there might be. Imperatore (talk) 01:01, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure if any of her CBS releases were Columbia, although in the year 1988 when Sony acquired CBS, they also acquired the rights to the Columbia name from EMI for non-USA markets . Then in 1991 they renamed themselves to Sony Music. (I also think that Sony Music Greece was named Sony-CBS Greece for some time well into the 1990s.) I would think that only the Sony Music releases post-1991 were Columbia imprinted and not the CBS ones, so we should just put CBS and omit "records" for the first two albums.
