[edit] Image tagging for Image:Smith intro.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Smith intro.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Deleted page "David Cooper (composer)"

A page you created, or image you uploaded, David Cooper (composer), has been deleted in accordance with our deletion policy. In particular, it meets the one or more criteria for speedy deletion; the relevant criterion is:

Unremarkable people, groups, companies and web content. An article about a real person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content that does not assert the importance or significance of its subject.

Wikipedia has certain standards for inclusion that all articles must meet. Certain types of article must establish the notability of their subject by asserting its importance or significance. Additionally, since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, content inappropriate for an encyclopedia, or content that would be more suited to somewhere else (such as a directory or social networking website) is not acceptable. See What Wikipedia is not for the relevant policy.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable notability guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content; it will be deleted again and may be protected from re-creation. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article. If you have any questions, please contact an administrator for assistance. [edit] Lauren Vélez

Gridwire, How you doing? First of all let me wish you a Happy Holidays. The problem with copying the page to Lauren Vélez was this: Somebody, had taken the contents from the article "Lauren and Loraine Velez" and posted it there some time ago and therefore, when I found this out I created a redirect. A few days ago, I decided to divide the "Lauren and Loraine Velez" into two articles, one for each sister and posted it under "Lauren Velez" and "Loraine Velez". By coping or better phrased "pasted" the article to Lauren Vélez the history page of the original creator (me) was not moved. What I did was to delete the page and then move the original copy with its original history page.

In the future, instead of pasting an article to a new page, move it and thereby you will be moving the pages history and talk pages as well. If you ever have any questions in Wiki and you believe that I can be of any help, please do not hesitate to ask. Your friend in Wiki Tony the Marine 03:02, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for fixing the problems and Happy Holidays + Merry Christmas to you too! :) Gridwire 11:30, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Category:Cancelled TV series cfd

FYI, I have placed Category:Cancelled TV series on the cfd board for discussion and either deletion or renaming/redefining/changing its parent category. This category appears to have some problems in how it is defined.

Please feel free to include your input at the discussion at [1]. (I'd recommend keeping comments on the discussion at that link as opposed to here so other people can see them.) I included my reasons for the cfd at that link, so I won't bother rehashing it here. I'm not sure whether the category should be deleted, restricted, or simply have its parent category changed, so the cfd is pretty open-ended depending on consensus. [edit] Editing with Tor ?

I would like to contribute wikipedia as much as possible but it's just getting harder and harder now when the administrators are over-anxiously blocking Tor exit nodes. Is there anything anyone can do to bypass the blocks (the way that doesn't include disabling Tor)? Thank you :) Gridwire 13:19, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Hmm... my understanding for some time has been that we generally block Tor "anon-only," so that users with existing accounts should be able to edit using it. (In short: can't edit anon, can't register, but able to edit, once registered). I don't know everything, but I haven't seen any discussion regarding a change in that general practice (we have, however, been dealing with some particularly malicious socks, recently). I'd suggest unblock requests mentioning the relevant IPs, asking for soft blocks; the other option is posting to the admin noticeboard or mailing unblock-en-l to request assistance. Hope that helps! Luna Santin 13:33, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
Ok. Thanks a lot. When I registered I noticed the "you are blocked" messages appeared less often, but now they are appearing more often than not. I'm going to request unblocking for a Tor exit node IP when one of them gets blocked next time. Gridwire 13:53, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] What vandalism?

You told me that my changes to the Terrence Steadman article may be considered vandalism if I kept doing it. On the contrary, I have actually been reverting vandalism to that article the past couple days. Somebody keeps adding nonsense about Steadman "crapping his pants" and I have been deleting it. Someone else deleted the Prison Break template and appropriate categories for Steadman, and so I had to add them again.

Another change I had made was the sentence that mentioned his suicide. Instead of "he committed suicide with one of Kellerman's pistols to avoid owning up to all the pain he has caused" (paraphrased) I made it "he committed suicide with one of Kellerman's pistols to avoid a prison sentence", which I thought was more accurate. Please explain why you consider this significant enough to heed a warning.

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Dexter BornFree End.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Dexter BornFree End.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 03:20, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MysteriousWays Intro.png

Thanks for uploading Image:MysteriousWays Intro.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid.
