Grimus is an alternative rock band from Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Grimus is the approximate anagram of the word simurgh, a gigantic bird from the Persian mythology. The abstruse and tyrannical character of the novel has inspired the name of the band.

[edit] Formation and Early Days (2005-2006)
While studying at different universities in Cluj-Napoca, the future Grimus members start out as a 5-piece rock band under the name Revers. They quickly change the band's name and expand their sound with keyboards. There follow several changes of the band's members and a 3-song Demo is recorded. The songs off this self-released Demo are played by various radio stations around Europe[1], notably Solitude, which is declared Song of the Year 2006 by City FM Radio.
[edit] Present and Future Plans (2007)
By 2007 the band is invited to play for all major festivals in Romania and plays regularly in various pubs all over the country. In October 2007, Grimus wins the National Finals of the Global Battle of the Bands[2][3][4] and represents Romania in the World Finals. In the meantime, the band spends a lot of time rehearsing and in studio, preparing for the release of their highly anticipated debut album.
