[edit] Sporting goods

Okay, I'd just like to let you in on 2 little thing about wikipedia. First of all, Wikipedia has a strict polict against original research. If you've found some sort of cool demographic facts about Alberta, that's wonderful, but this just isn't the place for it.

Secondly, please don't make 8 pages with the same content. It's entirely unnecesarry for several reasons. Wikipedia has something called redirects, so that when someone types in a given term, they are forwarded to the correct page. For example, if someone types "Lindros" into wikipedia, they'll get taken to the Eric Lindros page. In this manner, we don't have to keep multiple copies of the same text around. Imagine if every time someone wanted to make a minor change to the sporting goods page and they had to do it 8 times! (You can see how redirects are a much better system). Again, welcome to wikipedia. --Bachrach44 02:20, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Netivot.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Netivot.gif. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 17:08, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] helpme plz

Hi, How can i create a link from an english wikipedia article to another language (hebrew) wikipedia article? thanks

Here's how you do it - type in [[he:name of Hebrew entry]] at the bottom of the page, and the language link will appear to the left. If you want an example, see Tannaim, which has 3 interwiki links. --Bachrach44 19:59, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

KK but lets say its another article i want to link to for example in the YOC article i want to link to the בני עקיבא hebrew site. is there a way to click on the word בני עקיבא and get linked to it? Thanx

Normally, we don't want links to other language articles, because the readers don't want to or can't read the other languages. Instead, we link to articles in the same language. In case the readers are looking for text in another language, they will go to the other language wikipedia directly, or click one of the interwiki links on the left. Anyway, you can link to any page on the web, including other wikipedias, using the syntax [http://example.com/somepath/somefile link text] --TuukkaH 20:33, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Help again

Some one from my school continues to vandalise the school page. Can someone who has the power block him from editing? Thnx

What page is this? I can take care of it. Sasquatch t|c 22:40, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Okay, blocked. Cheers and happy editing. Sasquatch t|c 22:45, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Greetings from a new Hebrew/English Wikipedian!

Gregorykay, I'm following the "new contributor" discussions and noted your question about links to articles in other languages. So firstly I'm just saying "hello|שלום עליך" :-) -- but would also like to bring to your attention the listings that may interest you in Translation into English/Hebrew, spotlighting Hebrew articles for which an equivalent English-language article would benefit from expansion or is entirely lacking. If you have a reading knowledge of Hebrew and would be willing and able to translate into English, I'd like to encourage you! With best regards, Deborahjay 00:07, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Anti-Vandalism

If you want to help against vandalism an easy place to start is with the Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit. On that page you can find links to all the resources you need to help fight the vandals. As for seeing recent edits, there should be link on the right hand side of your page under the heading "navigation" labeled "Recent changes". However, sifting through that can be very difficult, so there are a number of scripts to help you spot vandalism. I for one use User:Lupin/Anti-vandal tool, but others can be found at Wikipedia:Cleaning up vandalism, as well as tools to help you revert such as popups and godmode-light. Hope that helps and you decided to join us in fighting vandalism! Cool3 02:53, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bnei Akiva

Feel free to use the userbox. Unless you can improve it. And as for you going to the only Bnei Akiva yeshiva outside Israel- I'm ahead of you on that count, I go to the FIRST B.A. yeshiva outside Israel! Ayinyud 14:02, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

To be perfectly honest, my school is no longer a Bnei Akiva yeshiva, although it started off as one. check Yeshiva College of South Africa. Still, the school is still associated with B.A. and most of the students are in the movement. I see that your principal is Frank Samuels. Is he from South Africa? Ayinyud 14:28, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mr Samuels

That's so crazy! He used to be the principal of my school! I miss the good old days... the whole school was one big riot... The principal who succeeded him is into "mutual respect and discipline". One of my maddies in Bnei once dropped a water balloon on his head in the middle of assembly... ask him if he remembers Meir Perez (my madrich). Ayinyud 14:37, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Beth Avraham Yosef of Toronto

Sorry about that, but the AFD discussion already said speedy delete. I am just adding the tag through process per WP:CSD, since at the time this was a copyright violation. Although, I do encourange you to make contributions to existing articles. -Whomp 15:23, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Beth Avraham Yosef of Toronto - Speedy Delete

Very well, then. Since you insist that this is not a speedy delete, then I will mark it as a standard delete and we can have discussion from there. It just doesn't bode well that you restart an article mere minutes after it was deleted and you repeatedly remove speedy delete notices. Please do not remove speedy delete notices in the future. -- Hobbeslover 01:16, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re Biggest

I guess I deserve to lose my eyesight reading that history over and over looking for the non-existent claim. I just never learned how to accept unsubstantiated claims :P Crum375 02:51, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Got your apology - no problem - my fault for insisting even though it was POV at best. Crum375 02:57, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Gregorykay, I assume you want BAYT to stay in WP. If so, the way to do it is by fixing it up. It doesn't take much - you need to put the claims to fame upfront - why is it different than all the others. Saying it emphasizes family values is not exactly radical for a Synagogue and won't cut it. And any claims must be backed up by links to reliable neutral sources. Overall make the article sound more objective and informative to a general audience and less like an ad. Crum375 12:39, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Meir's mom

Ha! Meir's mom is quite a legend. She has, on more than one occasion, attacked her sons at a parent's evening when teachers complain about their behaviour. Tell Mr S. that Meir's married- and expecting a kid (Great! Another Perez!) Ayinyud 19:21, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

If you enter your email into your options, you can email me- only then will I reveal my identity ;-) Ayinyud 19:25, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Bayt.gif

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Bayt.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jkelly 22:02, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Yeshivat Or Chaim & Ulpanat Orot

Why did you change God to G-d in the school article? Does G-d mean something other than God? I'm guessing this is a something related to Judaism? Thanks, --Stephane Charette 15:08, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

Even the article Names of God in Judaism has no problems with the word "God". Remember the articles are read by people who speak English from all faiths, not just people of the Jewish faith. --Stephane Charette 21:08, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Village Shul

I noticed that you created the article Village Shul. I have placed an {{importance}} tag on the article because the article does not explain why the shul is significant. I would appreciate it if you would look at Wikipedia Notability guidelines and add the the article why this synagogue is notable. If you cannot show a reason why it is notable, I would recommend that you post it for deletion. Jon513 18:55, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:Akaplan.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Akaplan.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Israel bilateral relations

Hi, I could use some support in opposing merging Israel-Venezuela relations into (nothingness) Foreign policy of Hugo Chávez. Anything you can add to Israel-Venezuela relations, Israel-New Zealand relations, and Israel-Japan relations would be very appreciated. Respectfully, Republitarian 17:55, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hi

I was kind of amused to see that you wrote the article on Or Chaim. I don't know if you know who I am in the Wikipedia world (you can check my user page to find out), but I was a graduate of Or Chaim many years ago (probably a year before your dad, if I am guessing correctly). That said, it may be a good idea to take out some of the very specific info, such as telephone numbers, etc. Other than that, good work! Danny 22:23, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Melissas.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Melissas.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Oden 09:55, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image source problem with Image:Baytl.gif

Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Baytl.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:35, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner.
