Hi! You're welcome for the Haymarket fix - in that case I just happened to know an article already existed so I could fix the link. After you've looked at a lot of pages you'll probably do the same :) Adam Bishop 01:35, 10 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Thanks, but it's not actually my image. I just borrowed it from Pete. Perhaps you'd better check with him as he uses it on his user page too. Angela. 03:13, 13 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Wow! That was quick. Thanks for fixing my redirect before I could even find the right page again. That was spiffy. Tjdw 03:45, 13 Dec 2003 (UTC)

I see you have some great contributions. Recently, you removed Charlie's logo from Charles Russel. I see that there wasn't enough room for it after the painting. That was a good painting btw. Keep up the good work. You might want to size the images and put them at the right like I did on Indian Wars. (You really helped on that article too.) Keep up the good work! No problem. Great job on the Handspring article. I used to have a Palm Pilot, but it broke :-( Alexandros 16:57, 13 Dec 2003 (UTC)

[edit] Wild Bunch

When you upload images, could you describe their source and copyright status on the image description page? For example, Image:Wildbunch.jpg is, I'm guessing, public domain because it's sufficiently old, but I'm not sure - you don't say when it was taken. Could you help me here? Otherwise it becomes more difficult for people to reuse content from Wikipedia, so we could no longer call ourselves a "free encyclopedia. Martin 17:59, 13 Dec 2003 (UTC)

No, thank you. :) Even just "public domain, because taken on (date)" would be great. Martin 18:02, 13 Dec 2003 (UTC)
Btw, do you want Image:Hotchkiss deleted (seems to be broke with 0 bytes...) Martin 18:17, 13 Dec 2003 (UTC)

No problem. As you may have guessed from the initial redirect, I'm surprised there wasn't an article already about him.  :) - Hephaestos 18:46, 13 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Well thanks for improving the no stubs image... though I think User:Angela has started using it in ironic fashion which is terribly upsetting ;-) so may be you shouldn't have :) Pete/Pcb21 (talk) 00:50, 14 Dec 2003 (UTC)

I moved around the links you added to Union Pacific Railroad -- while those locomotives are old UP locomotives they do not belong to the UP historical fleet that they maintain. I added a new 'Preserved locomotives' section to handle information about UP historical locomotives in other hands. --Morven 05:58, 14 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Feel free to remove yourself. You haven't caused any trouble, and I recognise you have made many great contributions here and got to grips with the system very quickly, but being a sysop is more about being a trusted member of the community rather than about how many edits you've made, and you can't expect to have gained this in less than a week. People need to see how you handle various situations etc, which is why you have met with opposition. Don't let it put you off though. Wait a few months and someone else with likely nominate you, or try again in 6 months. Angela. 00:03, 15 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Hi, please could you expand on your reason for listing Ghost of the Robot on VfD on December 12? A couple of people on the page have asked why you feel it should be deleted. [edit] Indian Tribe Pages

Given your interest in Indians, I've got a suggestion and a question. If you haven't already, you might visit the tribal pages being built by an author from Pick and Shovel (archeology) magazine. There is a pointer to one of them in the external links in the Pequot article. The question is: While I haven't found any serious flaws, what do you think of the accuracy or validity of his material? If you also think its good, I'll add links anywhere else that a Wiki tribal article and his page line up. Thanks for you support. Lou I 16:32, 1 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for looking. I've used one or two facts from those pages, and expect to use more. Lou I 18:39, 3 Jan 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Sp1916.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Sp1916.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Lordkinbote 23:20, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Snapshot1.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Snapshot1.png. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.

Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fritz S. (Talk) 10:33, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Flag of the Vermont Republic and Green Mountain Boys

Hi Green Mountain Boy. I am a big fan of the Green Mountain Boys' infantry flag. A friend sent me an image of a flag at a museum in Pennsylvania that belonged to John Stark. My guess is that early flags in North America were not as regular and codified as European flags of the time, or most flags today. I am curious what you based your flag icon on? The proportion seems to be close to that of the U.S. flag but the Stark flag seems narrower. The colors vary too. I notice that the arrangement in the canton on the Stark flag is a bit different. Still 13 five-pointed stars, but I wonder if a constallation might have been in mind, and also note the size of the stars varies. Would love to learn more. Thanks. [edit] Unspecified source for Image:Sinclair.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Sinclair.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL.
