[edit] helpme

My question - My log says I created User:Red Frog, although I did not. Can I remove it, and if I can't, will it have an effect on me in the future? Green caterpillar 19:42, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Please put helpme requests on yout talk page ... and; Having two accounts isn't against the rules on its own. Someone may have logged in as you and created the other user (suprisingly similar usernames patterns), no it can't be removed (unless you have the account password and have it disabled). It may affect you if it is used as a sockpuppet to circumvent wikipedia rules. -- Wirelain 19:58, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Short answer: no. Long answer: yes there is a 'right to dissapear' ... but that doesn't removed entries from your log, just completely hides your log from everyone, except admins. The only way i know is to completely stop using and lock the account, while getting a new one. You may want to ask in more detail at the village pump. -- Wirelain 20:14, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] AN/I question

I see the question has already been answered above, so I'm not sure why you decided to ask it again. The answer is the same. The account was created whilst logged in as this account so technically the account was created by "you". The effect is that everyone can see the account was created by you and it looks like you have two accounts, having two accounts is not against the rules, using those accounts to circumvent policy is. So say you both voted on a article for deletion it could like you were trying to get two votes. The connection cannot be removed from the log. Using the rename user facility won't remove the connection. The best thing to do is what has already been suggested, one of you should just log out and create a new account and never use the old account again. --pgk(talk) 07:02, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

I separated the article into two, the other being called pigment, biology. Please see the discussion of that in the Talk section. The two topics (pigments in art and manufacturing and biological pigments) really had nothing in common with each other except the basic definition of a pigment, and it was unwieldy to create an article around both topics. --Metzenberg 20:20, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] List of beat 'em ups undeletion request

I have nominated List of beat 'em ups to be undeleted, under the reasoning that it is not redundant to the category; it contains many games which are not covered by the category, and may never be able to be covered by it. In addition, the list can do more than the category. It can put date, developer, release date, system, et al., useful especially for articles that would be difficult to create an article for. I hope that you will vote on this and hopefully support its undeletion, on the basis that it does something that makes it not redundant to the category. Hi. I just applied for approval for VandalProof, and I noticed your name on the Awaiting Approval list. [edit] Re: Barnstar

Thanks! I voted keep on Hardy's AfD, so I figured I had a responsibility to make it an article worth keeping. Since I've exhausted all the sources, I've nominated it for GA Status. My GA reviewing history tells me that something's still a bit off about the article, but experience has taught me that, if the article is in decent shape, the GA reviewer is usually more helpful than a peer review. And I'm not so sure about the fair use rationale for the image. But we shall see. Anyhow, thanks again for the barnstar (and the class rating!) Cheers, CP 17:41, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Gene Stipe

Thank you for your comments regarding the article I created on former Oklahoma State Senator Gene Stipe. I agree with you that the article should be expanded, preferrably to include information about him other than his legal and health problems. I have conducted multiple searches on both Yahoo! and Google, however, I was disappointed to find a lack of information about him other than his aforementioned legal and health problems. Any ideas on how to expand the article would be most appreciated. --TommyBoy (talk) 00:02, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Help with a Bio article

Hello, Green Caterpillar! A while back you placed a "B-class" rating on an article that I contributed, Ilchi Lee. Since then, it has gotten the attention of some people that would like it to concentrate on certain rumors surrounding Lee. I think that is a bit inappropriate since it is a biography of a living person and the topic has not been covered well in reliable sources. One person expanded the "controversy" section enormously, relying heavily on rickross.com, Steve Hassan's site, and selectsmart.com. I am under the impression that these sorts of websites are not considered reliable. In other cases, he/she went far beyond the content of the sources used. For example, he/she cites court documents about a case, but the details he/she put in the article are not really there. (In fact, the documents show that the case was dismissed.) Anyway, I would really appreciate your help in monitoring this article, especially if you have good knowledge of policies regarding living people's biographies. A neutral observer woudl be very helpful. If you are too busy, maybe you can recommend someone.Nicola Cola (talk) 07:16, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your question

If I remember WP:RPA right, removing obvious attacks in any talk space is kosher. Or at least striking them. But whatever the policy says, removing blatant personal attacks (not constructive criticism) is A-okay in your talk page. Besides, the person obviously isn't familiar with wiki, and probably could care less about preserving the talk record. It's always in the history regardless. VanTucky 23:15, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Issue II - May 2008
From the editor:

Here's Issue II of the project newsletter. We're trying to decide if this is sinking or floating. If you would like to contribute to next month's newsletter please jump right in at the News Desk! Have a great May.

The Ohio Portal

The maintainers of the Ohio Portal are looking to get it to featured status. They would like to ask all project members to help improve it any way they can. What needs to be done most is the supplying of selected articles and images.

Selected Article: Indian Head Rock

There is a eight ton rock in Ohio that was removed from the Ohio River. This rock is known as the Indian Head Rock Dating back to the early 1800’s, this rock was seen sticking out of the Ohio River and used as a navigational mark for barges along the river. The names of citizens from the town of Portsmouth, Ohio are carved into the rock from the late nineteenth a early twentieth centuries. Some of the names were of well known families from Ohio. They would swim out to the rock, have their picture taken with it or simply carve their names into it.
With the advent of the Locks and Dams along the Ohio River, the rock eventually was submerged, but the legend lived on. A gentleman from Ironton, Ohio located the rock after searching a very long time for it, and he and a crew of scuba divers recovered the rock and took it to the shore to be donated to Ohio for historical value.
After hearing the news about the rock being removed, Kentucky introduced legislation against the removal of the rock. They also want the diver who found it to be prosecuted for removing the rock. Kentucky owns the greatest part of the land the river runs on. Even the Army Corp. of Engineers got involved as to how to move the rock without damaging it. Kentucky wants to have it returned to the river.
