External Links (Jordan / Jordanian Dinar)

Hi and thank you for the welcome message. I am concerned that a single person is able to make a decision that the external links I provided are "spam". I say so because the web sites that the links lead to are far from spam and are in fact the fruit of YEARS' worth of research. What What you thoughtfully labelled as "spam links" are in fact relevant pieces of information that describe in great detail all the coins, banknotes, and postage of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. I personally spent over 15 years of my life on this subject and take issue with that these are thoughtlessly labelled as "spam". I am very well connected with the Jordanian government and I am sure they would be disappointed when I report this censorship to them.

I ask you to reconsider the edits.

Sincerely, M —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mwbseiso (talkcontribs) 17:09, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

GG, first of all wish you a happy new year, hope you enjoyed your holidays. Thanks for ref to original article, it has a wealth of info that needs to be organised the way you are attempting. I may chip in my two-cents off and on and would not mind your reviews of them. Thanks and regards. Wiki dr mahmad (talk) 17:13, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Karachi, deux

Hello Green Giant!

I noticed you moved the images on the Karachi article to the right. On my screen, a purely right alignment of the images causes a huge white space, and causes the St. Pats picture I just inserted into the article to be oddly placed. I know that a certain alignment causes white spaces to appear on a screen depending on it's size. So now while on your screen there may be no white space, on mine, there is a huge white space right at the start. See two screenshots I took:

Whitespace
St Pats pic

I would like to know what size screen you are using? Because it seems to me that the previous alignment would be the ideal one for most computer screens. Also, I think it's aesthetically unappeling to put all the pictures on the same side of the page.

Cheers! Zaindy87 (talk) 06:45, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

db-unksource

Please stop putting Template:db-unksource on images that clearly do not fit the criteria. When they were uploaded yesterday, they can't possible have been tagged as no source for 7 days. MECUtalk 20:06, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

You don't need to go to AFD, or even WP:IFD, with these. None had a source or license so you can just mark as such. Most were already marked as such. After 7 days, they would get deleted anyways. I didn't know TW could do marking like that. Good to know. MECUtalk 20:15, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Your link policy

Hi! Thanks for your advices. As I saw you deleted both my Romania and Hungary links. I suppose you didn’t visit them. Hardly can I imagine that a page presenting in pictures the most interesting places of Romania or Hungary would be a spam or an uninteresting site. If it is, I’m curious about your opinion whether the below mentioned links, which you probably found appropriate and didn’t delete at the same page, how far correspond to your wikipedia link policy. http://new.photos.yahoo.com/zsolt_hungary/album/576460762351130695 http://www.earth-photography.com/Countries/Hungary http://www.bence.cameradigita.com http://www.hungarybudapestguide. com/slideshow.php

I’m especially interested your explication why do you think that http://www.bence.cameradigita.com complies better with wiki link policy than the link I placed. There are altogether three destinations (Kőszeg, Szeged, Tihany) displayed, which are not among the TOP10 Hungarian destinations, I’m afraid. Just calmly mentioning, the link you deleted consisted of more than 200 towns presented in pictures. My question is almost the same regarding to http://new.photos.yahoo.com/zsolt_hungary/album/576460762351130695 and http://www.hungarybudapestguide. com/slideshow.php which are almost exclusively deal with Budapest, despite the fact that the title of this wiki page Hungary not Budapest.

If you give me one reasonable argument why the above mentioned links remained in Wiki Hungary, meanwhile you deleted my added link I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. User:Marvao talk at 21:17, January 9, 2008

I have added some info in my last edit on Mountbatten's and Nehru/Gandhi/Jinnah's role, that I read in a book by the eminent Indian journalist, late Frank Moraes, on these personalities. Article on Religious violence

Green Giant, as you have shown interest in some India-related articles, I have come here to you with a request. This is about the article Religious violence in India. The situation there seems to get deteriorated soon with strong pro-Hindutva POV-pushing. I am not sure at present what may happen, but as I can see the present situation and opinions there, I fear that the article may take the form of "Anti-Hindu violence" instead of "Religious violence". At present the article is divided into several sections viz. "1984 Anti-Sikh Riots", "Ayodhya and Babri Mosque", "Bombay Riots", "2002 Gujarat violence", "Anti-Christian violence" and "Violence against Hindus". I fear the pro-Hindutva POV-pushing will led the section "Violence against Hindus" splitted further unnecessarily (so the subject matter of the article will become anti-Hindu violence only) and information on anti-Muslim and anti-Christian violence may be reduced. Can you please look into the matter. Thank you. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 14:23, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

I removed the DB template, as Template:Infobox river is still widely used; all pages using it showing the DB warning. We should first fix the links, and then nominate for deletion.

The offender was http://www.hungarybudapestguide .com/slideshow.php (of course, without the added space). When I post to your talk page, I get the message "(The spam filter blocked your page save because it detected a blacklisted hyperlink. You may have added it yourself, the link may have been added by another editor before it was blacklisted, or you may be infected by spyware that adds links to wiki pages. Portal:France/Wikiproject

Hi - I noticed that you moved a template to Portal:France/Wikiproject and included box headers around it on Portal:France. What was the reasoning behind this? I know that, for esthetic reasons, we had opted against box headers and had chosen a template when we added that component to the page. Also, unfortunately, now the v/d/e buttons on the template just go to a redirect, rather than to the template. Can this be fixed? Thanks. - NYArtsnWords (talk) 17:31, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello – Just a quick note to tell you that I declined speedy deletion of this template, because the rationale you gave (all the data was transferred to an article) is not a valid CSD rationale for deletion of a template. Palestinian people template

Hit there. I noticed you moved the page Template:Palestinian ethnicity to a user space page instead and then slapped it with a speedy deletion tag. I've removed the tag and restored the template, but I don't know how to move back the page history and tlak page history to the original page. Could you please do that for me? I don't really understand the rationale for hte move and the deletion and was planning on expanding and editing the template, so it's restoration would be very much appreciated. Thanks. Y Response left at User talk:Tiamut - Green Giant (talk) 16:18, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Actually, I would prefer that you do not put it up for speedy deletion again. There is an ongoing discussion at Arab citizens of Israel about the need for an appropriate ethnicity template and this may very well be it. Also, I was planning to add it to related articles like Palestinian-American and others, which would expand its usage from single-use to multiple use. Could you help me restore the talk page and article page history in light of this intention? Thanks. Tiamuttalk 16:21, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
With all due respect, while the same results can be achieved by putting {{Infobox Ethnic group}} in each of the articles, having a centralized template would make life much easier. I'm not sure what you mean by this comment Whilst I have the greatest sympathy for the cause of "oppressed people", it is essential for Wikipedia that we maintain a strategic distance from promoting their issues" If you did indeed review the discussion at Arab citizens of Israel, you would have seen that the discussion is centered around determining which template would be appropriate to use, based on reliable sources. There's no agenda at work here. I'd appreciate it you would restore the template's page history and talk page history, since you made the move unilaterally and obviously there is at least one editor (myself) who has taken issue with it. Wikipedia works by consensus and there is no consensus for what you did. So please, respect this request. Thanks. Tiamuttalk 19:29, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Y Response left at User talk:Tiamut - Green Giant (talk) 00:09, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for that very clear and detailed explanation. I wasn't aware of the wider context. Though I may consider re-creating the page one day, if I find a way to construct an ethnicity template using reliable sources that can be used at multiple pages, please accept my apologies for the delay posed to your clean-up of these template pages. Thanks for your contributions and work and consider my current objections withdrawn. Tiamuttalk 02:17, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

GG, I am actually new here and do mostly copy edits. But, left to me, I would follow a research paper like approach: the lead section to be an ‘abstract’ and the rest of the article very concise, to the point narrative, with references/links for detailed info on specifics. Unfortunately, new nations carved out of older ones face the liability of historical baggage and if they are also antagonistic then you have had it! In fact, ‘heroes’ for one side are often ‘plundering invaders’ for the other. In the present case, details may not be available in a language that a Pakistani, or observers say from UN, would consider neutral. For historical reasons and motives, the language has remained Indo-centric, lately acquiring even Indian ‘nationalistic’ overtones and agenda. If bias can be eliminated from the detailed articles to be referenced/linked from ‘History of Pakistan’ then your proposed approach is ideal. My two cents! Regards. Jhelum

Hello there, i dont know whats that all about.

DOT-GOV-DOT-PK domains started from 2003 onwards for districts and Apnajhelum is working in this space since 1999. in official records and information source, Apnajhelum.com and .net are considered as true information source by Government of Pakistan and other authorities.

if you need any kind of "OFFICIAL STATEMENT" according to this matter i can provide you. for further information Jhelum has no DOT-GOV-DOT-PK just because Apnajhelum are enough to fulfill these requirements.

Better Luck, and all these rules dont apply on evrything.
