[edit] Welcome

Welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for coming here and showing interest in Greek culture and dance. However, I will point out that some of your recent edits, particularly those to Greek dance, folk dance, and Greek culture, have not been appropriate, and I have reverted them. Links to user pages should not appear in articles themselves. Also, user pages should not be used to write articles. It's okay to have information about yourself and how you will edit Wikipedia, but the actual encyclopedic content belongs in articles themselves. You might want to check out the Manual of Style and see what Wikipedia is not. Don't let this stop you from improving the articles that you are interested in though. If I can help in any way, feel free to ask. Again, welcome to Wikipedia! —Cswrye 17:10, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your e-mail of the 8th of January

Hi There Wishing you a great 2007.

I was hoping to get some advice and help on some pages that I wish to update and review and of course add to. I am looking at moving Greek dance to Greek dances It was suggested on both pages that they should merge. I am currently working on updating the list of Greek Dances and making clear descriptions on the dances - history - references - links etc. My user page is Greek_Folk_Dance and was hoping to update and manage the Greek dances page. I'm not sure if I can do the above or if it is possible with only just recently registering and working out the rules and regulations on wiki! Your help and advice will be greatly appreciated Vas aka Greekdancer

OK, I will take your questions point-by-point:
  1. For the merge to take place there has to be an agreement that it is appropriate. If someone objects after the merge has taken place then it is quite a tricky thing to extricate the edit histories of each article. Edit histories have to be preserved in merges as per the GFDL rules.
  2. Looking at the current revision of the Greek dances article, there are a number of things that need to be altered.
    • Citations and references should follow the standards set out in WP:CITE and WP:FOOT.
    • You should ensure that they are reliable sources too.
    • Articles should be categorised appropriately, in order to allow other editors to find them easily.
    • The article requires encyclopedic content; it currently consists of a series of lists.
  3. The same goes for other articles that you contribute, such as Ai Georgis
  4. As for 'managing' the article, please see WP:OWN for details - no editor owns an article and every contribution is given away freely under GFDL rules.
