Born: Gregory Scott Glasson on December 6th 1974 in Princeton NJ. Studio bassist/bass player for New England band "Sixth Root". Gregory fell into music at the age of 7 on classical guitar and quickly found his bond with the bass through a high school friend. Honing a self taught skill of songwriting he quickly developed a knack for arranging music. In 1995 Greg dropped out of college at University of Maine and moved to Fort Collins Colorado to start a band with childhood friend Scott Rednor and a local singer songwriter Cory hubbert. What was to eventually become Dear Liza started to unravel over the next few months as the first incarnation with drummer Norris Jones. In Spring of 1995 Dear Liza recorded their first e.p and started to gig nonstop...this led the group to a standstill in Colorado and decided to move back to NJ to play full time and hone their skills. Dear Liza started gigging weekly throughout Jersey and Pennsylvania. By chance the band was seen by David Precheur who was the tour manager for Blues Traveler. He liked their music and invited them to play at his families annual Holiday party. From that point on everything changed in the band. Long story short...they were given the chance of a lifetime and they took it. Sessions at the now defunct Sony studios in NYC were definetely a catalyst to work harder. Being down the hall from Lars Ulrich of Metallica was to say the least surreal for the guys and while it was incredible they all knew it was just too soon. The sessions were fair and they all knew they needed to hit the road and really explode musically. With a new drummer(Agent D3 Glenn Grossman) a new violinist(Mike "Pieface" Fiorentino) and an army behind them they hit the road and played hundreds of shows and travelled thousands of miles around the states playing with countless other bands and meeting incredible people along the way. Their first published CD was a hybrid live/studio disc called Jalopy. It was not a gem but it helped spread their music and build their following. The band went on to record two more records but only one "Back to that Day was released in 1998. The band toured relentlessely and did a tour as the opening act for Traveler to support the release. Things eventually slowed down and Greg took a break from the Liza gig and moved north. He started a heavier band in 2004 with local Dover icons Nick Phaneuf, Jim Rudolph AND Paul Henderson where he still remains. The music of "Sixth Root" was a challenge to be more progressive and mainstream. With the release of Sixth Root in 2006 came notable awards from Garage Band.com for best Rock track award for "What is Real" and garnered the attention of producer Josh Harris to do a full length record in the Fall of 2007. Greg and his band are currently in writing sessions for a full length production due out in the fall of 2008. Most recently Greg Glasson has played bass with the grammy award wining artist SEAL and has played on over 100 studio releases to date as a session bassist. [1]
