This user has been registered since December 2007 and lives in Fishponds, Bristol, England. Born in 1959 in Wimbledon, Surrey, UK, he spent his teenage years in Southern Africa, and was educated at Waterford Kamhlaba School, Swaziland (now the United World College for Southern Africa) and the Quaker Sidcot School in Somerset, England. He trained as a nurse working with people with learning dificulties and has worked variously as a civil servant producing housing statistics; a photographic laboratory assistant; and a welfare rights adviser. A socialist he is a member of the Socialist Party (England and Wales), and the Committee for a Workers' International. His interests include palaentology, especially the contribution of Mary Anning and James Parkinson, history, especially the Diggers, Levellers and other 17th Century English radical movements, evolutionary theory, especially the ideas of Charles Darwin and Stephen Jay Gould and social security law. He is interested in art, (especially the work of Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, William Kentridge, JMW Turner, William Blake and Max Ernst)and photography (Ansel Adams, Imogen Cunningham, Sebastiao Salgado,Man Ray) .
