Howdy! I live in Philadelphia, but I grew up in—and remain attached to—northeast Oklahoma. In the real world, whatever that is, I mostly edit other people's writing. I occasionally bring those copy-editing skills to random messy pieces here. My main interests include sport, sociology, history, music, beer, and, yes, Oklahoma.
[edit] Current Projects
- Joan Hess — The popular mystery writer doesn't have a Wikipedia entry. I aim to fix that.
- Jimmy Creech — Rev. Creech is a Methodist minister who was defrocked in 1999 for presiding over a same-sex commitment ceremony. He's now a prominent critic of the treatment of gays and lesbians by conservative American Protestant denominations. He seems to merit an entry.
- Angela Hill — As any New Orleanian can tell you, Angela's a bigger deal than Garland Robinette, who has an entry!
- Angie Debo — Debo was one of Oklahoma's most important historians. She deserves an entry.
- Robert K. Oermann — Is it possible that the dean of Nashville's music journalists doesn't have an entry?
- Individual World Poetry Slam — The Poetry Slam, Inc.-sponsored event seems to merit an article.
[edit] Projects I've Completed (for now, anyway)
- Andrea Gibson — I don't really know her work, but the article was a disaster. I researched her, substantially rewrote the article, and added a few references. A future project would be to expand the article.
- Oktaha, Oklahoma — I added and wrote a new section on History. And I plan to write more if I can get my hands on a copy of Jim Etter's Oktaha, A Track in the Sand.
- World Fantasy Awards — Despite my utter lack of interest in or knowledge about the genre <g>, I somehow felt compelled to update (with the 2006 and 2007 nominees and winners) the articles for various awards: Novella, Short Fiction, Anthology, Collection, Artist, Life Achievement, Special Award: Professional, and Special Award: Non-Professional. Tedious work!
