[edit] Military intelligence

Dodge made serious accomplishments in the field of military intelligence after his promotion at Pea Ridge. He used African American slaves as couriers in Missouri and Tennessee and formed the First Alabama Colored Infantry Regiment. He ran the Military Intelligence Bureau for Grant. Lots of interesting stuff. See the following references: Commanders-in-Chief Biographies and Spying for America: The Hidden History of U.S. Intelligence, by Nathan Miller, pp. 138-140. I'm sure there is more. No time to do it myself, but maybe someone would be interested in filling in the gaps and linking this article to military intelligence history?--Pat (talk) 21:52, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
