Talk:Gregory Alan Burhoe

[edit] Notability and Conflict of Interest
Burhoe hasn't published anything significant, and is using Wiki for self-advertising. There are six external links, all of which lead to pages clearly written by him.
Article is written like self-advertising, and like an essay.
Phrases such as "words just leapt into his head faster than what his hands could keep up with" are contrary to WP:PEACOCK.
Close to candidate for deletion.

I don't understand what your problem is. Burhoe is well known in his homeland, is a published writer, and is currently working on the publication of his epic book. Besides which, other sites would disagree with you: http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Gregory+Alan+Burhoe (talk) 14:00, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
- First, I should warn you. It may be the case, Neurolanis, that you are Gregory Alan Burhoe. Defending yourself -- if that is indeed who you are -- and pretending you are someone else, could, under some circumstances cause you to be blocked from editing in Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.130.128.47 (talk) 19:48, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
- The citation you just provided is a direct copy of this Wiki article.
- He may be well-known in his homeland, but nothing in this article proves that. That he doesn't have an agent or apparently a publisher, and was only first published a couple years ago suggests he is, in fact, an unknown writer trying to make a name for himself.
- There are further attempts to aggrandize by mentioning his Father's writing -- but just being related to someone famous, according to Wiki policy, does not make one notable.
- The writing in the article is contrary to WP:PEACOCK. To quote that page "avoid peacock terms which merely promote the subject of the article without imparting real information".
- Since all the links are to pages that were apparently written by him, none of them mitigate conflict of interest.
- Just as an example of the many problems with the article, no Wiki articles link here, suggesting he's not important to any of the millions of existing Wiki topics.
- I could go on, but unless someone can provide reliable third-party sources, this article is headed for deletion. Wiki is not for self-advertising, and that's exactly what this appears to be.

Do what you wish, I just fail to understand the reason for your picking on me. I have come across articles less valuable than this one, and others on well known people which were not well looked after. Yet strangely this one has earned such negative attention from you. My daily horoscope told me that I'd be making friends today, guess it was a little off. I will look for better references if they are necessary... Neurolanis (talk) 22:11, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
