[edit] Second largest how exactly?
The article contains the sentence:
Greater Manchester is the second largest fire service in the United Kingdom, covering an area of approximately 496 square miles.
This is copied from the website but I'm curious. How exactly is it the second largest. It certainly isn't by area, nor by population, (the West Midlands Fire Service is slightly larger) It could be by number of employees perhaps? but it doesn't say. I'm not sure what criteria is being used for this claim, so I think it should be removed. G-Man * 23:27, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
