I agree with the above statement ; the seven year war occured before, and took place on various battlefields, from America to India, although the main theatre remained Germany.
Besides, the other difference between the "Great french war" and the 2 world wars that we know, is that there is no permanent state of war from 1792 to 1815 for any country involved. It has more to do with a fast succession of separate conflicts than a global long term war. As it is stated in the article, even the concept of a single "Great french war" is rather anglo-saxon, and generally not admitted in France, for example, due to the numerous changes of regime during this period, which makes it difficult to analyse in the same way those different conflicts ...

If Seven Years War was a world war, then so were the wars of Louis XIV, as well as the War of Austrian Succession and especially the American Revolutionary War during which there was heavy combat in India, the Americas and southern Europe. In fact, based on any lasting results, the American Revolutionary War had far greater impact then Seven Years War.
