[edit] Proposal for deletion

I see somebody created this article and it was immediately tagged for possible deletion. Here's my 2 cents. I think this could be a good article and shouldn't be deleted but whomever added the deletion proposal made some good points about it needing more work. The subject is fine and the content is good but this article needs to be better organized and more focused. First off, the very first line should state that the most important fact - that Great Cow Harbor 10K is a race. In particular you should write that it is "a road running event", with that wiki link. Keep history short and to the point, including significant deviations such as years it wasn't run, but move the best times to a new section for "Course records". 2006 shouldn't be its own section at all. Also, I wouldn't list who came in 2nd, 3rd, etc. because it's just not important. If it's not a new course record I don't think it's significant towards the subject of the article which is simply the race itself. The article could benefit from a good photo (don't use something you found on the internet without permission) and "The course" could also benefit from an image. Also, the fun run sentence doesn't belong in that section about the course layout. This is all just my opinion. Take a look at other race articles like the Boston Marathon for more guidance. Good luck. - Fife Club 16:30, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
