Greta is a railway station on the Main North Line branch of CityRail's Hunter Line. Diesel railcars serve the station on regional services from Newcastle.
The station serves the town of Greta and its surrounding area, in the Hunter Valley. There are two short platforms connected by a footbridge, and there is no disabled access to the station.

The station serves the Scone branch of the Hunter Valley line, which is only served by 4 trains a day each way on weekdays (3 to Scone and 1 to Muswellbrook heading north west, and 4 to Newcastle heading east). On weekends there are only 2 services each way to Scone and Newcastle in the morning and evening.

Historically, the next inbound station was Allandale, however that station has been unofficially closed since 2002, and services suspended until further notice since 2005.
