Gregory B. Starr

Gregory B. Starr is the Director of the Diplomatic Security Service and the senior most DSS Special Agent. As such he is also the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary within Diplomatic Security, since March 1, 2007, and has been the acting Asistant Secretary for DS since October 2007. His responsibilities include any operation conducted by the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, the Office of Foreign Missions, and their training programs. Starr became a Special Agent and joined the U.S. Foreign Service in 1980.
His overseas assignments include Senior Regional Security Officer at the U.S. Embassy to Israel (1997-2000), Regional Security Officer positions in Tunisia, Senegal and Zaire (now Democratic Republic of the Congo). His awards include several Senior Foreign Service Performance and Superior and Meritorious Honor awards.
