Greg Johnson was the 19th head college football coach for the Prairie View A&M University Panthers located in Prairie View, Texas and he held that position for two seasons, from 1997 until 1998. His career coaching record at Prairie View was 1 wins, 19 losses, and 0 ties. As of the conclusion of the 2007 season, this ranks him 19th at Prairie View in total wins and 21st at Prairie View in winning percentage (0.050). [1][2]
[edit] Break the losing streak
Coach Johnson's first 12 consecutive losses played a part in the worst losing streak in NCAA history of 88 games between 1989 and 1998.[3] However, it was in the fourth game of his second season as head coach when the streak was broken by a 14-12 victory over Langston University.[4][5][6] Tensions over the losing streak had grown so high at the school that the entire marching band was suspended by the conference the week before as a result of fighting between marching bands.[7]
