The Early Breakfast Show - Greg James on BBC Radio 1

Greg James (born December 17, 1985) is a British disc jockey from Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire. Having previously had experience at BBC Radio Norfolk and Galaxy in Newcastle,[1] he is now a DJ at BBC Radio 1 in London. He started presenting the Early Breakfast show 4.00-6.30am Monday-Friday from October 15 2007, replacing the previous incumbents of the slot, JK and Joel.[2] He is also a continuity announcer for Dave TV.

During his three years studying drama at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, he presented several shows on the student union radio station Livewire 1350AM, becoming the station manager in 2006. He also presented several breakfast shows on Future Radio in Norwich during their RSL's before he got his lucky break at BBC Radio 1.

He won the award for "Best Male Presenter" at the Student Radio Awards in November 2005, for which the prize was a 1 hour show on BBC Radio 1. Having impressed bosses at the station, in June 2007 he was asked to present five Friday morning early breakfast shows. Following this he was then asked to present JK and Joel's Early Breakfast Show for a week whilst they were away. He returned for a further two weeks in July and has also stood in for Sara Cox on her weekend afternoon show. He currently lives in a flat in North London with a friend. Greg is 6' 3" (187cm)

He announced on 18th April 2008 that his sister had a baby girl and he was now an uncle.

On 25th April 2008 Greg presented the Early Morning Breakfast Show live from Donington Park services.[3]

Greg's Early Morning Breakfast Show is well-known for the "Flash Flash" introductory sequence, in which listeners are encouraged to flash their lights (headlights, room lights, table lamps, etc) to the "Flash Flash" tune. Subseqeuntly, listeners also call in to say the words "Flash Flash" when the tune is played. It has proven to be hugely popular, with the phone line kept busy throughout the tune, and Greg having to take successive calls.
