Greg H. Sims
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Greg H. Sims originally built his reputation as a producer of high-end and successful independent films, with an impeccable track record for finding and nurturing some of the most exciting new talent behind and in front of the camera, including actors George Clooney, Michael Vartan and Amanda Peet. Sims expanded his efforts into the distribution world when he founded Devin International, which built strong relationships with A-level foreign buyers throughout the world.
In the last few years, Sims expanded his reach into the music business. Although music always held great interest for him, his involvement up to that point had mostly centered around a strong involvement in selecting music for his films, including the notable rap soundtrack from THE FEAR, the indie soundtrack for TOUCH ME, and the soundtrack for his earlier film THE RAFFLE, the only such low budget "non issue" indie film to feature an approved Elton John song.
At the beginning of 2005, Sims became the co-manager, on a worldwide basis, of the European, multi Platinum superstar, Anouk, an EMI-Virgin recording artist. Sims' work with Anouk has earned him multiple Gold and Platinum Awards, including those for the album HOTEL NEW YORK. In 2007, as a result of Sims's work, Anouk's music is scheduled to be released in North America, beginning with Virgin's Canadian release of the single WITH YOU, co-written by Canadian hitmaker Dan Hill.
Sims is known for fashioning modestly budgeted films that have all performed critically and commercially at the level of much larger films, Sims' films include TOUCH ME, which starred Amanda Peet and Michael Vartan. The film was an official selection at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival, and subsequently enjoyed a successful platform theatrical release, including rave reviews from Kevin Thomas of the Los Angeles Times ("TOUCH ME will definitely touch you"). TOUCH ME's airing on LIFETIME saw it become that network's highest rated independent film of the year. Previously, Sims worked with TOUCH ME Director H. Gordon Boos on RED SURF, which was the Los Angeles Times critic's pick, and featured the first critically acclaimed starring role for George Clooney. In multiple interviews, Director Quentin Tarantino revealed that he became interested in casting Clooney for FROM DUSK TIL DAWN when he saw RED SURF, which he called "one of my favorite films of its kind." RED SURF was also the first sole cinematographer assignment for PEARL HARBOR Cinematographer John Schwartzmann,
Sims’ new company, VESUVIO ENTERTAINMENT CORPORATION, is a vertically integrated distribution company which gains a foothold in the US theatrical, home entertainment (dvd/video) and television markets, as well as all foreign markets, while at the same time creating synergy with the company's endeavors in the music world, VESUVIO has two new films going into production in the spring of 2008.
