Greenwood Subway Yard
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Greenwood Yard is a rail yard that services subway vehicles on the Bloor-Danforth line of the Toronto subway system.
Trains from the Bloor-Danforth line access the yard from a spur line which branches off between Donlands and Greenwood stations. It was built in the mid 1960s as the Bloor-Danforth line was being expanded and took load off from the Davisville Subway Yard. The site was previously the Harper's Dump, the city of Toronto's main landfill in the 1930s.
It is the only major yard on the line, with Vincent Subway Yard being a non-functioning/former yard. Besides servicing subway cars, Greenwood also services the Scarborough RT cars when the service is too complex to take place at the McCowan Yards on the RT line.
