Greenville is a town in Orange County, New York, United States. The population was 3,800 at the 2000 census.
Unique among Orange County towns, Greenville has no cities, villages or even hamlets. (Residents of the town get their mail through the Port Jervis post office.) There is periodic talk of creating a hamlet of Greenville near Exit 2 off Interstate Highway 84, which features the town's firehouse, a deli and a few other businesses.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 30.5 square miles (79.1 km²), of which, 30.3 square miles (78.4 km²) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.7 km²) of it (0.85%) is water.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 3,800 people, 1,243 households, and 1,024 families residing in the town. The population density was 125.6 people per square mile (48.5/km²). There were 1,365 housing units at an average density of 45.1/sq mi (17.4/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 95.13% White, 1.26% African American, 0.29% Native American, 1.05% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.13% from other races, and 1.11% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.47% of the population.
There were 1,243 households out of which 44.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.2% were married couples living together, 7.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.6% were non-families. 14.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.04 and the average family size was 3.34.
In the town the population was spread out with 30.3% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 24.4% from 45 to 64, and 8.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 97.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.5 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $60,260, and the median income for a family was $65,257. Males had a median income of $45,847 versus $28,672 for females. The per capita income for the town was $23,090. About 3.8% of families and 4.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 4.6% of those under age 18 and 6.1% of those age 65 or over.
