Founded by Phillip Lybrand, an American independent filmmaker, while he was a student in the University of Arizona's B.F.A. of Media Arts program in 2002. Located in Tucson, Arizona, where all of the company's films have been produced thus far. The company name was first used for credits sequences on Lybrand's student films. Also used were the names "Brainfreeze Ouch!" and "Three Foot Seven Studios." The term "greenless" refers to the extremely low budgets that Greenless Pictures has worked with. From a Distance and Deck of Gray were each produced for under $300.
In 2003, Lybrand purchased the domain name Greenless.com, solidifying it as the company's official name. Since then, Greenless Pictures has produced several short films that have been screen theatrically or commercially distributed. Three of these films are listed on IMDb with Greenless Pictures listed as the production company. Greenless Picturess has debuted films at the TucsonFilm.com Shortfest for two years running (Deck of Gray and The Great Dicktator in 2006, and From a Distance in 2007).
Currently in development for Greenless Pictures is Multiplex Massacre, a slasher comedy. This is the first feature film for Greenless Pictures and is set for a 2008 production.
